We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brooke Mallory. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brooke below.
Brooke, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I probably get my resilience from the fact that growing up I was always told no, to give up, and that I would never be able to succeed in my ambitions and dreams from teachers and other people around me. I wanted to prove them wrong, even if it took a few years or decades to get there.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As an artist and designer I try to epitomize perseverance and ingenuity in my craft. A painting or drawing can take me only a week to complete or it can take me a year depending on what I want to accomplish. My art journey is a testament to dedication, as I’ve tirelessly pursued my dreams while building a client base. My creative process draws inspiration from old photographs documenting historical events as well as cultural milestones. I also integrate these vintage elements with contemporary technologies and computer elements. By blending the old with the new, I try to deliver a powerful message about the importance of honoring tradition in today’s fast, rapidly evolving technological landscape. My work serves as a reminder for myself that amidst the whirlwind of new ideas, there is still profound value in paying homage to our roots and preserving elements of the past.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Courage, Pateince, Determination, Focus. I would say that it takes time and a lot of failures before you hunker down and really decide you want to develop your skills and keep up a hobby that can eventually turn into a money making business. .
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
my dad, hands down.
