Meet Brooke Palmer Kuhl

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brooke Palmer Kuhl . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Brooke , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I developed my strong work ethic from my father, Jerry Palmer, who an entrepreneur. Growing up, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication and sheer determination my father poured into his own ventures, retiring at 40, and then building a new company even bigger!!

From a young age, my father instilled in me the value of hard work and the importance of taking ownership of my goals and aspirations. He would often share stories about his own journey, losing both his parents by the time he was 15, highlighting the countless hours he invested, the sacrifices he made, and the challenges he overcame to build his successful business.

Observing my father’s relentless work ethic, I learned that success is not handed to you on a silver platter but is earned through perseverance and unwavering commitment. He taught me that to build something of your own, you must be willing to go the extra mile, put in the long hours, and consistently push yourself beyond your limits. “Be the cream that rises to the top of the cup” he would say

My father’s entrepreneurial spirit also taught me the value of taking risks and embracing failure as a stepping stone to success. He would encourage me to think outside the box, to dream big, and to not be afraid of making mistakes. He believed that failure was an opportunity for growth and that it was better to try and fail than to never try at all. My plan was to be a veterinarian, not a PR and event guru. But here we are!

Through his actions and guidance, my father taught me the importance of setting goals, creating a strong work ethic, and never settling for mediocrity. He showed me that success is not just about working hard but also about working smart, being adaptable, and constantly seeking new opportunities.

As I ventured into my own pursuits, I carried with me the lessons and principles my father instilled in me. I embraced the challenges, persevered through setbacks, and remained dedicated to my goals. My father’s entrepreneurial spirit continues to fuel my passion, reminding me that success is attainable through hard work, resilience, and a never-give-up attitude.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey and the qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful,, three stand out.

1. Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks and keep pushing forward is crucial in any journey, especially as an entrepreneur. Building resilience requires mental strength, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, and a positive mindset. It is important to embrace failures as learning opportunities and not let them discourage you. Surround yourself with a support system that uplifts and encourages you during tough times. Practice self-care and cultivate a resilient mindset through meditation, mindfulness, or any other method that helps you stay focused and motivated.

2. Continuous Learning: The world is constantly evolving, and to stay ahead, it is essential to commit to lifelong learning. As an entrepreneur, you need to develop a broad set of skills and knowledge to adapt to new technologies, market trends, and customer demands. Seek out opportunities for professional development, whether it’s attending workshops, enrolling in courses, or even self-study. Stay curious, read widely, and network with like-minded individuals who can share their expertise. Embrace a growth mindset, always be open to new ideas, and be willing to step out of your comfort zone to acquire new skills. I went back to school and got a Master’s Degree at 45!

3. Time Management and Prioritization: Time is a finite resource, and how effectively you manage it can greatly impact your success. Develop strong time management skills by setting clear goals, breaking them down into manageable tasks, and creating a schedule or to-do list to stay organized. Prioritize your tasks based on their importance and urgency, ensuring that you dedicate ample time to high-priority activities. Avoid multitasking and focus on one task at a time to maximize productivity. Learn to delegate tasks when necessary and be mindful of your work-life balance to prevent burnout.

For those early in their journey, my advice would be:
– Embrace failure as a stepping stone to success. Learn from your mistakes, adapt, and keep moving forward.
– Seek mentors or role models who have achieved success in your desired field. Learn from their experiences and ask for guidance when needed.
– Network and surround yourself with a supportive community of like-minded individuals who can provide insights, share resources, and offer encouragement.
– Stay curious and never stop learning. Invest in your personal and professional development, and continuously seek opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills.
– Develop a strong work ethic and commit to consistent hard work. Success rarely comes overnight, so be patient, stay dedicated, and be willing to put in the necessary effort.
– Take care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Prioritize self-care and maintain a healthy work-life balance to avoid burnout and maintain long-term sustainability.

Remember, each journey is unique, and it’s important to find what works best for you. Stay true to your passions, persevere through challenges, and believe in your abilities. With determination, continuous improvement, and a strong support system, you can make great strides in your entrepreneurial journey.
