Meet Bunny H

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bunny H. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Bunny, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Honestly from my best friends, family & mostly my environment! I grew up not really fitting in anywhere. My family was probably one of the only Asian families in the city. There wasn’t anyone around that looked like me so it was really tough growing up. I was bullied pretty bad for the way that I looked.

I really didn’t realize that we were “different” until I witnessed racism towards my parents. I grew up in the deep south and my family owned a convenience store. There’s a law where on Sundays, you can only purchase beer and wine after 12pm. My brother and I went to work with my dad that day and I remember a customer came in telling my dad to ‘go back to his country’ in front of my brother and I just because my dad told him that he legally could not sell beer to this customer because it was only 10AM. I was 7 years old.

Elementary and middle school was extremely tough for me. I felt like I didn’t really have many real friends until I met my best friend in the 6th grade (who is still my best friend to this day). Anyway, it really wasn’t until my mid-twenties that I just realized to accept myself as who I am and where I came from. I learned that folks are either going to love me or hate me for no reason and all I can do is simply just be true to myself and to just stand strong in that!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Bunny and I run a business called Hazy Bunny. I call it a self care boutique because the intention of my business is to 1. create products that soothe the mind, body and soul and 2. help folks remind themselves to fill their own cups and to take care of themselves first!

My main product is my Hydration Station – it has 4 individual products sold as a set that includes a nourishing body wash, an exfoliating body polish, a moisturizing in-shower body lotion and a hydrating body cream to finish your body care routine. I created these products to help nourish dry and dehydrated skin but I always remind folks that you have to do your due diligence as well! You have to maintain a routine and ensure you are drinking tons and tons of water. Hydration both in and out is so important to the skin. All of my products contain oils that are extremely nourishing to the skin and will ensure to keep you moisturized all day. I offer the Hydration Station in a variety of scents to ensure that I can satisfy all of my clients’ preferences!

Although Hazy Bunny is currently limited to bath and body products, my intention for the brand is to slowly expand into other self care related products. I do not believe that self care is limited to bubble baths, face masks and Netflix. I believe that self care is also about taking care of your health, mentally and physically. So again, I definitely want to expand into other things such as journals, crystals, etc. So much more planned for the future!!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
What a great question! Resilience, willingness to admit that you’re wrong or don’t know things and actually working throughout the healthcare/medical field were 3 things that were the most impactful to my journey! I was a phlebotomist for many years and prior to that, I was a medical assistant and prior to that, I volunteered at hospitals and hospice care. I have met and had conversations with many different walks of life which really has helped build my communication skills.

As far as advice that I have for folks early on in their journey, I would say the best thing to learn in the beginning is to recognize that the first step is to congratulate yourself in starting your business and putting yourself out there! You have to be resilient to run your business. You’re going to have to understand that you’re gonna have some haters for no reason and you just have to get through that. You may have folks that are close to you that want you to fail but just remember your purpose and understand that if this is what you want to do, the naysayers’ opinions cannot matter.

Additionally, another piece of advice is to be okay with asking for help! Be okay with not knowing everything. You’re not going to know everything in the beginning and you may mess up or fail but as long as you pick yourself back up and try again, you got this. Recognize that it is a strength to ask for help and ask questions. This is going to be something that helps you grow.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Right now the biggest obstacle and challenge that I have is time. I still work a full time job and run my business at the same time. I would really love to be able to solely run my business full time but I trust in Divine Timing and that time will come for me as long as I remain consistent!

As far as what I’m doing right now to overcome this issue is organize. Organize really well. I use my calendar and planners to divide my time. I’ll put in my calendar the days or times that I’ll use for content creation or creating products. I try to stick with my schedule; I like a routine, to be honest!
