We were lucky to catch up with Burger the Monster recently and have shared our conversation below.
Burger, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive monster and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
I think a lot of my optimism comes from my family and friends. When I am with them, I’m always reminded of how lucky I am to have such wonderful kind, caring, loving monsters, roosters, and of course, people in my life.
Some of my pals include Doughnut and his girlfriend Cupcake, Snoogles the Rooster, Popover the Monster (my nephew), and Spence (my human roommate). Spence and I have known each other since college. Today, he is my manager/best friend and helps me produce my videos on TikTok. I guess you can say he has a HAND in everything I do!
Over the years, I have also become very close with Spence’s family and friends. His brothers and parents love him and me so much and are incredibly supportive of our dreams! Spence and I are so grateful to have them in our lives. And don’t forget Spence’s extended family: his aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents (Grammy and Papa – we love and miss you)!
In addition to his family, Spence’s friends always know how to make us laugh and smile! Shout out to Conor, Zak, Tim, the Friedmans, Joe, Crystal, James, John Cody, the Puppet Shakespeare Players, and our pals from New Paltz! Thanks for always being there for me and Spence.
Our family and friends are always there for us through good times and when things can be challenging. And that makes the two of us feel happy, hopeful, and confident. Ya, it is true!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My career started in 2017, when I began performing with the Puppet Shakespeare Players in NYC. As a “player,” I appeared Off-Off-Broadway in productions of Puppet Macbeth, Puppet Romeo & Juliet, Puppet Hamlet, and Puppet Julius Caesar. While the group is no longer around, I am grateful for the awesome memories and wonderful friends that I made.
Fast-forward to 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic is here and we are all in lockdown. I knew that I needed to continue to bring joy and laughter to the world somehow. But how? The answer was TikTok.
With the help of Spence, I joined TikTok in March 2020. Since then, I have gained over 10.5K followers, and two of my videos have gone viral. Thanks to this amazing platform, my work has been shared by brands and celebrities such as WWE and Singer-Songwriter Melissa Etheridge.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
A sense of humor. I like to joke around and make people laugh. What can I say, I’m a goofy, fluffy monster!
I’d also like to think that my kind heart has contributed significantly to my own journey. I always try my best to be there for anyone who needs me.
And finally, my love for sandwiches! I’m always happy whenever I’m eating a sandwich; it doesn’t matter what kind. They are so YUMMY!
My advice for anyone starting out on their journey? Find your happiness. Once you are happy, you can then focus on helping others and contributing to their happiness.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I’d have to go with Spence’s Grammy. She was always there for me, him, and Spence’s entire family.
Years ago, she told Spence the following:
“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
Her hope was that this quote would inspire Spence to follow his dreams no matter what. And she was right! Without these words of wisdom, I would not be creating videos for TikTok, Cameo, etc.
