We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Caprisha Daniels. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Caprisha below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Caprisha with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I fell in love with the artistry of hair at the young age of 13! My plan was to become a Traveling Nurse. I worked as a Phlebotomist for almost 3 years. I would always do different styles on myself, gained alot of compliments and clientele at the hospitals and clinics I was working at. I realized I was my own model. My passion for hair grew even more. I started doing hair on the side in my home for many years. I went full time working in a salon in Atlanta, Georgia in 2008. I then became a licensed Cosmetologist in California in 2013 and a Certified Trichologist, who specializing in Hair Loss
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the proud owner of Lovingyournaturalself, A Natural Hair Care & Hair Loss Center with over 10 years experience specializing in all types of textures, Locs, Braids, Twists, Extensions, Natural Hair Care and Trichology (Hair Loss). I look forward to going to work on a daily basis. There’s no better feeling than to be able to just make people feel good and better about themselves. I’m a firm believer in a healthy scalp versus just a nice hairstyle.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As a licensed Cosmetologist I’d advise to continue to keep learning. I’m always signing up for different classes to gain more knowledge. The hair industry is always changing. Pay attention to what’s trending to keep your chair busy. Whether your learning something new or perfecting your craft, never stop learning. Advise and promote yourself. You are your own model
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
What’s most challenging for me right now is taking time off to just relax. When you enjoy your career so much, it doesn’t feel like your actually working. I’ve been putting aside more “me” time and self care days. This has become very important for me these days
