We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carlos Spencer a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Carlos, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
When I first started my journey as a Photographer/Videographer, I had a 3 year plan to accomplish certain things and be a certain level . Needless to say by year 3 I had been caught in a world wind of trying to perfect one craft to monetize my skill, and completely losing sight of where I truly needed to place my focus. Leaning too far left can steer you off track, so always remember to balance the right side of your life with the things that give you purpose and help you remember why the journey started.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a traveling Photographer and FilmMaker that specializes and creating memories for customers of all walks and sizes. I’ve done everything from Wedding and Food Photography, to Interpretive Dance and Cosplay Videography. I hope to expand my horizons in the coming years and lean heavy into my craft while building up the business I love all over the world while taking in the moments, as well.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
*Be teachable. Even Professors are still learning the lesson, so don’t be afraid of learning, adjusting, or even switching the direction all together. The Goal is never a straight line and there a lot of lessons to be learned along the way.
*Every Winner has taken Losses. Don’t tally up someone else’s accomplishes in the light, without knowing what the adversity they faced in the dark. Fight your own battles, be thankful for YOUR Blessings.
*Don’t Rush Things but Don’t Spend Your Life Hesitating. You See and Oppurtunity, TAKE IT. And make sure you’re always prepared for anything, (going to a social event- have business cards or a DOTcard available) Always keep a positive mindset and positive energy will return your way, and remain patient, cause every moment isn’t a moment to shine. Sometimes they’re teachable lessons there, and moments for seed planting.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
