We were lucky to catch up with Carmen Salvá del Corral recently and have shared our conversation below.
Carmen , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Of God
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My story as a writer began in 2012 in a literary workshop in Mexico City. As a result, in 2015 I published my first historical novel La Mirada. Next April I will present its sequel, Diego. From this first literary son came more in the form of a musical script, a play, children’s stories, short stories, a young adult novel and this last novel, Diego. I also tell you that in April I will present my latest story written in Spanish-English Serafín and a caiman in the pantry. My story as a painter began thanks to the need to illustrate my young adult novel, Adventure in Ushuaia, from there I discovered my love for painting. I have participated in virtual exhibitions in Dubai, Greece and Italy. I have attended in person the International Fair of Art, Crafts and Antiques in Istanbul in 2023. Now, in the 24th and recently I have participated in the Art Symposium in Bahrain and in the exhibition I’m a woman also in Bahrain.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Perseverance, believe in myself and listen to my guardian angel. The only advice would be to believe in themselves, to never listen to the voices of discouragement and to listen to their inner voice.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Summer of the Red Wolf by Morris L.West. In this novel I discovered or perhaps better said it made me feel how the writer took you to discover the simple and primitive adventure of being alive and fighting with the elements and with the elemental man.
