We were lucky to catch up with Carter Lofton recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Carter, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
In the music industry, I feel it is imperative for a person to have some resilience. For me, it started with how I was raised as a child, and then it carried into the rest of my life. I had to develop a sort of workflow habit in order to create music, so this helped as well with being able to stay creative in tough times.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As of July 1st, 2023, I released a single with lyrics to a beat I produced for the first time. As always, I have plans for this release that I believe some of my fans will enjoy. Unfortunately, these plans are still being worked on, but I anticipate them being executed quite soon. I have now reached a point in my music creation where I need a team, so please reach out to me if you would be interested in working with me. My main social platform is Instagram, @carter.lofton, on my page I will be announcing new music and creative ideas. Someday I will reach the top and be untouchable when it comes to my performance, but as of right now, we are still working towards that goal. I am looking into doing merch soon for my latest release, which will be on my Instagram as well.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Something that is number one and crucial to have is discipline. I feel like we as people do not speak about things like self-control, discipline, and self-respect enough. Without those three things, I will not be where I am currently; Im still working on this of course, but it takes serious time as well as a commitment to master those three things. I believe the most skill full and successful people in the world have a good understanding of the elements already stated previously, but also understand what being humble truly means.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I spend a lot of time trying to come up with ideas and sometimes it causes a lot of stress. I recommend that when you are feeling overwhelmed find your happy place. Go out on a walk, draw what you want to be, anything that calms you down I think you should try. Personally, when I get overwhelmed I listen to music while driving, and that always seems to bring me peace.
