Meet Cassieandre Jones

We recently connected with Cassieandre Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Cassieandre, thank you so much for making time for us today. We can’t wait to dive into your story and the lessons you’ve learned along the way, but maybe we can start with something foundational to your success. How have you gone about developing your ability to communicate effectively?
One day a client called in to make a complaint. I don’t remember the complaint verbatim because it was five years ago, but instead of listening to her complaint in detail, I responded with a pre-written script I wrote for the staff. The client yelled and said, “You are not listening.” I paused and said to myself you are not listening, Cassie. I’m a person that’s big on accountability and checking myself. The client was right; I wasn’t listening. I had her repeat the issue, and I solved her problem much faster. I never worked in customer service before, but that situation made me understand how essential listening skills are. I’m also a perfectionist, and I don’t like being wrong, but I was wrong, and from that day forward, I had the best listing skills. Now, I hear what most people miss. I’m a great solution-maker and problem-solver because of my listening skills. I took it upon myself to research how to improve my listening skills to become an effective communicator. My communication skills have helped me become a great business owner, a great leader to my team and staff, and an excellent communicator to my clients.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I started working on the Pink Caviar brand summer of 2017. I’m a natural brander, an investor, a designer, and a creative. I don’t remember much about the developing stages because ideas run through my mind all day, especially during conversations and at night. Everything about the development stages is a blur. What I do know, is I love being pampered, and my accountant told me that I needed to cut back on going to the spa because I was spending too much money, so I created my own spa.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Every business owner should have leadership, logical thinking, and communication skills. You need leadership skills because who is running your business? No one cares about your investment. Most employees are only there for a check. Therefore you should have leadership skills to keep your team focused on doing the job you hired them to do. Every business has unexpected things that happen, problems, complaints, etc. You need to have logical and critical thinking skills to succeed. You have to be the brains of your company and the brains for your team. If you have these skills, you will be a great problem solver and solution maker. Communication is very important. Every relationship is on the same page with effective communication. You need to be able to communicate to delegate to your team. You need communication skills to have the best customer service for your clients.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I go to therapy. Lol, therapy is an outlet for me. Because of therapy, I have watched myself grow into who I am today. I used to wear every problem on my sleeve for weeks and months. Now, I’m resilient. I’ll give a situation a max of 2 hours, but after that, I have to move on. I can’t give any problem that much power over my life. I snatch my power back by moving on.
