Meet Cesar Pichardo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cesar Pichardo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cesar below.

Cesar, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My mother is a major reason for my confidence. In the eyes of a Latina mom their son can do no wrong. She has always believed in me to overcome any type of adversity. I also give credit to my father who was constantly working on a project or staying busy. He was always looking for something to and there was nothing he couldnt do in his mind. Seeing both my parents leave their native home and begin a new life here in America has always driven my confidence to reach my goals.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an actor and comedian. I recently moved to Atlanta, GA from Miami, FL and been doing shows all over the city. In addition to Stand Up, Ive been fortunate to book commercials and independent projects. My comedy material comes from a different perspective than most as I like to joke about what it was like growing with a Latina mom and also my dating life. For some reason us Dominican men have a bad reputation when it comes to dating. The most exciting part about doing comedy is getting laughs. Not only does it make you proud that something you created just made someone smile but you can feel the laughs like a wave hitting the stage.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three most important qualities Kindness
Charisma
Creativity

These three qualities have gotten me where I am now and will get me even further. Kindness is an art. Making someones day better will never go unnoticed and will also make your life easier. Charisma similar to kindness just attracts others to you. It also helps people trust you and will see the authenticity in your work and actions. They’re all many actors and comedians and what separates one from another aside from the hard work and commitment is the creativity. Creativity can ignite new point of views for an audience and can help your jokes stand out when using similar premises.

If youre starting out, just know you can practice kindness everyday. Say hi to a stranger walking by, say thank you when paying for a transaction and charisma can start with a smile. It will always go a long way. Creativity takes time but you need to practice everyday, look for inspiration in music, movies art, etc.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The challenge Im currently facing is just taking my career to the next level. I am constantly training and working on my craft but the dream is to have constant work.
