Meet Chandler King

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chandler King. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chandler below.

Chandler, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
I think my optimism comes from my belief in God and that he always has my back no matter what decisions I make. It allows me to trust situations more fully, and to know that everything will be okay!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Chandler King, and I’m the designer/Owner of my brand Busybdy. I started sewing in 2020 during the pandemic, and have since started my brand based around my creations. The ‘Busy’ in BusyBdy stands for “Being Unusual Saves You” which i believe to be true. Having an unusual talent or uniqueness about you, just being your full self and enjoying the gifts that come from that!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Learning the skill of sewing was definitely important, being. A people person because I’m constantly in contact with people, love talking to them and hearing how their outfits have made them feel and making sure everyone feels taken care of. My best advice would be to not compare yourself or journey to anyone else’s. Focus on your craft and enjoy the ride! Stay original and inspired by the world around you <3

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents have done for me was supporting me in whatever crazy dreams I’ve had in my lifetime haha. No matter how random or scary. When i quit my job to pursue Busybdy full time they both i think had their worries but also trusted me. Their trust and support has done wonders for me and my creativity. Also my mom and i used to take trips to LA every summer and without those trips, i may not have realized how much i could accomplish outside of Baltimore and may have been too scared to move here when i was 19 years old!
