We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chef Darian Finney/ Dropout Finn. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chef Darian Finney/ Dropout Finn below.
Hi Chef Darian Finney/ Dropout Finn, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My mom’s for sure, 4 kids .. travel nurse . She kind of just didn’t stop.. I think I take that from her but just creatively for my own projects I’m always creating
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am Darian Finney aka DropOut Finn of the Dropout Club. Co-Owner & Chef of Shon’s Kitchen. I was recently the Private chef for the Eagles band. I create music and imagery from southern experiences . I currently own three pop-ups, Dirty South ANGEL, Smoke with Chef Jeremiah Lemons & Thank You, Mr. Nice Guy with chef Damien Besson.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Never stop learning. Even once it’s time for you to lead something. I walked in studios knowing I could perform better but stayed quiet to learn things. Same with kitchens go in a kitchen to learn it from the bottom up… sous or prep you know
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I take it one day at a time, without balance all things will fall
