Meet Chester W. Sharp

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chester W. Sharp a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chester W., thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from my parents. My father was an entrepreneur, and my mom has worked in the banking industry for over 30 years. My dad spent countless hours running his business and creating opportunities for the community. He had a vision of economic growth for his community. My mom exemplifies steadiness, commitment, and excellence in her position at the bank.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m the Founder and Creative Director of the Sharp Creative Agency. We are a full-service marketing agency located in Atlanta. Our agency has worked with global brands like BMW, Mercedes, Uncle Nearest, and Chick fil a.

Our agency is expanding into original content with the launch of our digital network. We are excited to tell the stories of black and brown people. This network includes short films, documentaries, series, news, and sports.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In Malcolm Gladwell’s book Outlier, he refers to the “10 000-hour rule,” asserting that the key to achieving true expertise in any skill is simply practicing, albeit correctly, for at least 10 000 hours. Once you figure out what you want, you must consume yourself with it, seeking as much knowledge as possible. While you learn, you also must be putting your knowledge into practice. It is this combination that leads to success. Finally, surround yourself with the right people. Those that will push you while they are pursuing their dreams.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
