Meet Chloe Detrick

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chloe Detrick a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Chloe, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I have not always had the amount of confidence that I have today. It is crazy to think that when I was in college I used to get rosacea from even answering a simple question in front of my class. Today, I speak in public settings with ease both at work and in my entertainment industry pursuits. I even perform stand-up comedy regularly throughout Los Angeles. I attribute a large part of my confidence to the assurance I receive from my friends. Especially from my best friend, Trey, who passed away suddenly when he was only 29-years-old. His passing taught me a lot of things, most importantly, that life is too short to care what people are thinking about you. At the end of the day, they aren’t really thinking about you that much at all.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As of recent, the project I am most proud of is my work on my short film, “Sorry I’m Sad.” The film is about the special relationship I had with my best friend, Trey, and how I feel we would’ve interacted in the modern day world if he was still alive. It was recently accepted into the 2023 Austin Comedy Film Festival and is a finalist in the romantic comedy category. I’m looking forward to sharing it more widely once it has made its rounds in the festival circuit this year.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I wish I would’ve been more honest with myself about what I ultimately wanted to do in life way sooner. I always knew deep down I wanted to try acting, but came up with excuses as to why I couldn’t pursue that career path. When I finally moved to Los Angeles in 2019, I knew I had made the right decision. My advice to those who are considering a career, location or overall life change is to listen to your heart, act sooner rather than later, and remember, you’re the only person who has to live your life – make sure it’s a good one.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking to collaborate with other creatives in the filmmaking world. I truly feel the best way to get experience in the acting world is to perform your own stories and experiences, whenever possible. I’m always open and willing to work with fellow actors, cinematographers, writers, and directors. You can reach out to me on IG @chloe.deets.
