We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chloe Temtchine. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chloe below.
Hi Chloe, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Almost dying awakened me to the delicate nature of life and carved out my purpose. Creativity became more than just about writing, painting, and making music; it became my lifeline. It empowered me to confront challenges head-on. In the face of daunting odds, I harnessed this creativity to rewrite my narrative, transforming “impossible” into “possible.”
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m Chloé Temtchine, and while I’ve been fortunate to have a career in music, life has presented me with some unexpected lessons. Living with Pulmonary Hypertension and Pulmonary Veno Occlusive disease for 12 years and undergoing a life-saving double-lung transplant have profoundly reshaped my perspective.
“Super Brave Kids,” one of the many endeavors I’m working on, holds a special place in my heart. Through this project, I’ve had the privilege of interviewing incredibly inspiring children who are confronting life’s toughest challenges.
As I look forward to the 2024 “Smile Tour,” which involves performing in hospitals for kids, nurses, doctors, and families, my sincere hope is to continue to bring awareness to Pulmonary Hypertension, to the importance of organ donation, and to bring hope to those in need.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
- Creativity: Throughout my journey, creativity hasn’t just been about artistic expression. It’s been a means of reinventing and redefining my life, especially when faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges. It reminded me that it’s not about “IF I can” but “HOW I will.”
- Resilience: It wasn’t just about surviving; it was about thriving and redefining what life could be despite the circumstances. In the face of all that could go wrong, I kept asking myself, “What If Everything Goes Right,” and that simple question fueled my resilience. I also continuously looked for inspiration by focusing on stories of others who had overcome incredible odds.
- Gratitude: The profound appreciation for every moment, every breath, became my anchor. I now cherish the simple things in life, and I never take anything for granted, including doing laundry! Laundry! Who would have thought? Anything can happen to any one of us at any time. All we have is now.
Had I not gone through this nightmare and miracle, I might have spent my entire life half-asleep. This experience woke me up. I’m no longer waiting for the infamous “Someday” to arrive. I recognize the beauty in every moment, which inspires me to tackle any challenge with a renewed spirit.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Carrot Seed: This children’s book is my favorite by far. In about five pages, which I consider to be the perfect amount of pages for my particular attention span, the story celebrates the value of faith and perseverance.
