My optimism is rooted in a blend of personal philosophy and life experiences. I’ve learned to see challenges as opportunities for growth, focusing on the positives rather than dwelling on the negatives. Witnessing resilience in others and observing positive change in the world further fuels my hopeful outlook. Cultivating gratitude for life’s blessings, no matter how small, serves as a constant reminder of the beauty amidst adversity. Ultimately, my optimism is a deliberate choice, influenced by a belief in the inherent goodness of people and the transformative power of positivity.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a passionate designer specializing in prints and graphics for handbags and footwear at Michael Kors. Fashion has been my lifelong passion, stemming from my childhood fascination with style and creativity. I began honing my illustration skills at the tender age of five, eventually earning a degree in Illustration from the prestigious ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California.
My journey in the fashion industry led me to New York City, where I embarked on an enriching internship at Tommy Hilfiger before joining Coach to further develop my expertise in prints.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I find solace and joy in hot yoga, a practice that has become an integral part of my life. Currently, I’m undergoing a 200-hour yoga teacher training program, with hopes of sharing my passion for yoga with others in the near future. One of my greatest dreams is to embark on a yoga retreat in Bali this year, a journey that symbolizes my commitment to self-discovery and holistic well-being.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been most impactful are resilience, creativity, and networking.
1. Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks and adapt to challenges has been crucial. In the face of rejection, failure, or unexpected obstacles, resilience kept me going. To develop resilience, it’s important to cultivate a growth mindset, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth rather than insurmountable barriers. Practice self-care, maintain a support system, and celebrate small victories along the way to build resilience.
2. Creativity: In the fashion industry, creativity is paramount. Developing a unique artistic vision and the ability to innovate are essential for success. To enhance creativity, cultivate curiosity, explore diverse sources of inspiration, and continuously challenge yourself to think outside the box. Embrace experimentation and don’t be afraid to take risks with your designs.
3. Networking: Building a strong professional network has been instrumental in opening doors to opportunities and advancing my career. Networking allows you to learn from others, gain valuable insights, and forge meaningful connections. To effectively network, be genuine, proactive, and generous with your time and expertise. Attend industry events, engage with peers and mentors, and leverage social media platforms to expand your network.

To stay persistent, seek mentorship, never stop learning, build relationships and embrace failure!
