Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christina “Chrissie Christ” Anderson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christina “Chrissie Christ” , we are so appreciative of you taking the time to open up about the extremely important, albeit personal, topic of mental health. Can you talk to us about your journey and how you were able to overcome the challenges related to mental issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
It’s a great question. I would say that I have been persistent about overcoming any challenge related to my mental health and have found resources to help me overcome any unexpected situation. Reading, spending time with my family, and praying are a few things that I’ve been able to find useful during this journey. In these hard times, these are my most important three outlets.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
You may read my most recently published interview with “Voyage ATL” in the December 2019 magazine for an in-depth overview on me and the origins of A Fistfull of Prayers, LLC. However for the purpose to keep the aforementioned brief and to the point, allow me to reintroduce myself as your favorite sister, Sister Chrissie Christ (Anderson), author, proprietor, and producer of A Fistful of Prayers, LLC, resulting in underwent a transformation from a blog to a business in 2017. If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on this period of my life and where I am now, I would say that prayer, PUSH, and my willingness were among the three key traits, talents, or any areas of knowledge that ultimately had the most influence on me. I pray because I want God to continue to be a part of all I do and because without him, nothing is possible. Without him, I am not nor can not evolve into the woman he desires me to be. Therefore, I must continue to pray and spend as much time as feasible talking to him about all facets of my life. I say “push” because irrespective of how unclear, unconventional, or even crazy your vision or drive may seem, you have to possess some kind of joy. With that joy, you hold the authority to stay in position and not get out of your seat. That is your God-given authority when you are walking by faith and not by sight to receive such joy from trusting him with your process to stay in your seat. Don’t move or switch positions, you are right where he needs you to be.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I make an effort to stand back if I am feeling overburdened in order to see and thoroughly analyze everything that is causing the emotion. Therefore, when I do that, I am able to divide the situation into parts to at least arrange them so that I am able to follow through and resolve them. Given that I tend to work best while under pressure, why not allocate the necessary time to complete a masterpiece rather than rushing through it at the last minute without enjoying the process? Therefore, try not to wait until the very last minute to put fresh pressure on top of already-built-up pressure only to overwhelm yourself. If you want to genuinely embrace and appreciate your journey.
No matter how early in your endeavors you are, be mindful that spending time in prayer with God will help you identify more about the person you’re striving to become, regardless of any area you believe requires improvement. Bear this passage in mind at all moments like these: “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young; but set an example for the believers in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.” Luke 4:12 NIV PUSH through and always be willing to be a better you irrespective of what any individual says or thinks, even if you are young and feel unworthy of such a position or encounter obstacles along the path. Positioning yourself to be positioned for personal development is YOUR personal choice. Stay blessed and encouraged!
