Meet Christine Bailey

We were lucky to catch up with Christine Bailey recently and have shared our conversation below.

Christine, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I got my work ethic from my family especially my mother, father, and sister. Growing up in a two parent island household you only had certain options. The option to succeed and which way you take to get there. My mother not going to college made her start working early. My father going to college placed him in a different position. My sister went to college and some. I had many options to choose from and I feel I chose the path of all of them combined. I went to college. I started to work early. I also went back to college for more. I was determined to be a great daughter of Jamaican parents and be able to stand on my own was my huge drive.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I recently got into the medical tech field. My whole life I wanted to be in a hospital as a doctor or nurse or as a coordinator until my path was no longer leading me to the clinical side. I enjoy my job now and I never knew this field was for me. My personal brand is cooking. I am known and previously interviewed for my cooking as Cooking with Chrissy. I now focus more on doing reviews of other chefs work, and business. I started to do this because I love to eat! Also why I love to cook. But I noticed going to visit places some of the reviews were not accurate because someone put their feelings into the review and not actually the whole service. I started with Yelp became a Yelp Elite and then started my own page as well for reviews. I felt anyone deserves a fair review, and I didn’t notice how many people really paid attention to my reviews or read it till I started to get more interaction on Yelp and managers started asking me to come in and try their restaurant to fix my review, and places were featuring my review and pictures the most.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Determine what is for you, be good in one thing, and perfect your lane.

I feel a lot of people try and be multi faceted. While that is not all bad sometimes you just need that one thing you are really good at and focus on it. You would be surprised how many people will listen. Trying to figure this out can be hard but listen to yourself. Can you do it with your eyes closed?

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for places to eat or try. I am always open to suggestions and for people to join because I can’t eat everything. I love all places from a mom and pop, to black owned, to the most popular restaurants. I strive on newer places to see what they are bringing and recommend to people. Also older places that have bad reviews to see if it was a mistake that needs correcting. Let’s connect, eat, and review.
