Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Chuck Pfoutz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Chuck, really happy you were able to join us today, and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all–purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Working behind the camera. I often pretend that a camera is a time machine that can take us back to a place that makes us happy or fills us with a memory of someone we lost or to visit history. Covering over 800 events, many of them historical, meaning once in a lifetime, and it got me thinking. If I devote so much time to documenting history, why not recreate history in our shows? And that is how I got to where I am today. Without the camera, I would be lost.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we further our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My journey is unexpectedly filled with lots of twists and turns. Lucky me, I always come out on top. I can still remember when I was fourteen years old, and my father bought me my first camera, and now we are making movies, commercials, fashion, and art. I am one of those lucky people who always asked questions, and when I wanted to get something done, I never took no for an answer. If someone tells you No, then go around them. We are the screenwriters of our destinies.
Looking back, what were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks early in their journey regarding how they can best develop or improve on these?
Have a good work ethic, invest well, and that includes time, and always look at who is running things before you get involved in anything.
What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing in areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
Always, if you are afraid of something, try making it your best friend. I guarantee you one day, you will wake up, realize you are not afraid anymore, and continue your journey.
