Meet CJ CHARLES

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful CJ CHARLES. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with CJ below.

CJ, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I am a hard worker because I was taught the value of hard work at an early age. I watched my mother and grandparents work hard and it taught me to be the same.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions, we had for you?
My name is CJ Charles, and I am a bilingual children’s author and toy inventor.

I have a four-book, bilingual children’s book series entitled My Mother is a Superhero. My Mother is a Superhero is the story of 6-year-old Justine, who believes that her mother is more than she seems. After all, she has seen her mother do some amazing things! Our second book in the series, is entitled Mrs. April is a Superhero. In book number two, Justine begins to realize that her 1st grade teacher is also someone who does marvelous things. Currently, both books are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and in the TikTok Shop.

I love writing for children! It allows me to be as creative and fun as I want to be, while still teaching, which is also my passion. Recently, we created The Justine Doll. She is an adorable 12-inch plush doll. The Justine Doll will be available this fall.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I often sit and wonder at the many roads that have brought me to where I am today. The three most valuable qualities that have carried me along were faith in myself, following through with my daily goals, and not being afraid to ask questions (for help). Having faith in myself means that I also believe in the Creator within me. If I don’t have strong self-beliefs and clarity on who I was as a person then I wouldn’t be able to leave the house every day.

I would tell anyone early in their passion journey, to find other people who share your passions. Join online or in person support groups. Become comfortable with moving forward in life while you’re afraid. Learn from other people- both their successes and failures. Realize that you will probably become separated from your friends and maybe family so that you can grow. and finally, take three steps toward your goals every day. This can be as simple reading an article, posting online, or speaking to someone about your goals.

Alright, so before we go, we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
If I only had one decade of life left to live, then I would make every day beautiful. I would like to spend my remaining time on this earth being of help to the planet and to children. I would plant as many trees as humanly possible, and I would also teach as many children to read as possible.
