We were lucky to catch up with Clarissa Lewis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Clarissa, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self-discipline comes from a place of hope. Growing up, I’ve always been that person to keep my head up and towards a brighter future and never giving up. I knew that if I kept working hard at something, and was disciplined, I would achieve more than I ever thought I would. And now my life has changed so much! Becoming a professional photographer was something young me would have never dreamed of.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a boutique photographer specializing in portraits of business owners and families, creating photographic wall art to be used in decorating your home or business! I hold your hand through a full service boutique experience: from offering a personalized, one-on-one consultation to discuss your vision, placement of wall art, to an ordering presentation where we select the images that speak the most to you. I am not a photographer who simply sends over digital files and leaves you unsure of what to do next. I will be here to hold your hand from beginning to end. I specialize in creating canvas heirloom quality photographic artwork. This artwork is designed to be hung in your home or business, for all to admire, appreciate and bond over. With the custom wall portraits, you have the choice of decorating your home or adding warmth and a personal touch to your business! I love to advocate for printed portraiture because when added to your home or business, it creates such an inviting, proud, warm environment for everyone to just be in awe of. I want this for YOU and your family!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that were most impactful on my journey would be confidence in my skills, willpower and having hope. Without these three things, I would not have made it as far as I have. I really want people who have started their journey to never stop learning your craft. You never know “everything”. There is always so much more room to learn. And when you open your mind up to that is where you will begin to transform more than you’ve ever imagined.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my mom has done for me would be buying my first digital point and shoot camera. She knew how much I loved photography but, the only camera I had was a 2002 sony camera. I was so happy and grateful for this (probably $30) camera. I brought it everywhere with me and I was able to develop my skill even further!
