We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Claudia Pavan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Claudia below.
Hi Claudia, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience was taught to me by life, forcibly. It is said that our fears “run after us,” and I try to force myself not to think about it even though it is not easy at all.
It is useless to worry ahead of time about something we are not sure will happen.
For example, I always did my best at work thinking that in the future I would reap the benefits, but instead the company where I worked closed down and I was left unemployed.
My pessimism prevented me from seeing that I had a new road ahead of me, which I would not have traveled if things had not changed.
In general, we all went through two terrible years, but it allowed us to appreciate the present more and, above all, to be able to evaluate situations and people better.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Let me introduce myself: I am Claudia and my passion is words, read or written. I learned to speak before I learned to walk, and I soon learned to write thoughts and letters that I would then send to friends in many parts of the world.
Despite this, I never seriously considered writing publicly until life confronted me with an unexpected change. My reaction was not very positive, which is where the first part of the name of my blog came from: keep calm, but my husband supported and encouraged me by insisting that I try to have confidence in myself and here I am.
The concept of my blog Keep Calm & Drink Coffee is really about having a chat like over coffee.
Be welcome then, in whatever way you prefer, just by reading, commenting, or maybe even sending photos of your favorite cups, or your pleasant coffees wherever you are.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I don’t think I am the right person to give advice, but I would like to say “make lots of mistakes” because it is from mistakes that you learn. I also think it is very important not to be ashamed of yourself: as long as you wear clothes that are not your own, you will never be able to release your essence.
The third fundamental element for me is music, especially rock, it is like food that I feed on, energy, companionship, charge, inspiration, fun, movement, joy, life.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
Among the things my parents did for me, I always find myself thinking about trust. They had confidence in me. They believed that I was good as a daughter, as a student, as a woman.
Its like finding yourself rich without having earned.
I miss them so much and I would like to ask them to forgive me for disappointing them because I didn’t actually make great things in my life.
