We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cleo Jade. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cleo below.
Cleo, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I was raised by a single, immigrant mother who made everything happen for me. Even if it meant sacrifice on her own end. My work ethic definitely comes from her, she inspires me to work hard so I can make her proud. I want to be sure to live a happy and successful life because there’s only one.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a nail technician and small business owner. I’ve been doing nails now for nearly 4 years. I love what I do because I get to meet new people daily who inspire me and I get to know their stories , walks of life and so on. I enjoy spending time with my clients doing something as fun and as creative as nails. I enjoy the company of the clients who give me complete creative control for their sets because it gives me a chance to show what I feel is fun and what’s my passion.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I think the main area of knowledge in my journey to getting to where I am, was becoming more comfortable with speaking and socializing with strangers. I also needed to learn that when it comes to products I needed to invest good money to get good results and products! I also needed to teach myself to be kind to not only my physical body but also my mental health, as my career takes big tolls on both. My advice to nail technicians starting their journey is always be kind to your own needs, be patient and positive with those who patronize your business, and don’t give up when things get hard because the result of your hard work will always be rewarding.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My biggest support system is my partner and our families, not to mention the amazing people on my team who promote and support my work like no other. My partner has been with me from the start of me doing nails, he’s watched me grow overtime and never allowed me to talk down on myself or give up on my dreams. My in-laws have given me a space to work from and have been my people to lean on and learn from when it comes to running a successful business. My mother and my sister have been two of my biggest critics but also my two biggest supporters and influences for becoming better at my craft. My team of brand ambassadors have given me full trust and support to practice and work with and on them and for that they will always have a special place in my heart.
