We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cliff & Shanequa Stafford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Cliff & Shanequa, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
It is extremely important to understand that every human being is created with purpose and intentionality. God is the greatest innovator and He took the time to handcraft every living soul. It is from this viewpoint that we realized that there is something unique within myself that can benefit the earth. It is a disservice to my purpose in life to be an imposter and display characteristics that are not truthful and transparent.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
We are Cliff & Shanequa Stafford. Simply put, we have been blessed to demonstrate to others that you can successfully operate in business, marriage and ministry. We are the founders of Count the Cost, LLC (Business Consulting Firm) and His Business Transportation (Last Mile Delivery Company). It is a honor to for us to be married for 10 years and experience the same joy and bliss as if we were newlyweds. We understand that our mandate in the earth is to provide hope to all persons in the area of faith, finances and family. As we work diligently to execute our God-given purpose, we are always looking to grow, develop and remain progressive in our endeavors.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, there were several qualities that were most impactful in our journey. First, our faith stabilized us in the midst of all adversity. We were determined that we would be persistent in the face of every challenge. Second, preparation, preparation, preparation. The process of launching a business takes proper planning in order to build a solid momentum that will create a path of longevity. Third, transparency throughout the entire process eliminated any room or space to demonstrate something that was not true to our core.
If you are early in the journey, it is vitally important to remain true to your brand and your craft from the onset. Never allow fear of the “what-if” to hinder you from moving forward. Be sure to stay connected to God and be real with yourself throughout the entire process.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
The biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has solely been through self-evaluation. We have been intentional in the area of self-evaluation because we understand that there are weaknesses on the inside of each us that can hinder the full stages of growth and development that we ultimately want to see in this life.
