We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Corrine Fang. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Corrine below.
Corrine, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose while attending community college and pursuing nursing. I didn’t finish because I felt that it wasn’t something that I truly wanted to do. My parents encouraged me to pursue it because it would allow me to always have a job no matter where I moved. I have a big passion for the beauty industry, especially interested in makeup and skincare. My mom encouraged me to try beauty school because she saw that my passion was in that industry.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Lash Artist and I am super passionate about being one. The most exciting thing about being a Lash Artist is that there really isn’t any limits to grow. I am able to continue to learn and get better each day. I do about 1 to 2 lash trainings a year because in this industry trends and products are ever changing. I attend these trainings and workshops because I don’t want to feel complacent. It terrifies me because I feel like that means I am not able to give my guests the best of the best lashes.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on the journey that I embarked on to get me here I would say that not giving myself the opportunity to stay comfortable, always staying on top of the ever changing trends and having support from loved ones.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I think this question can be answered best with the mentors that I have trained with. The founders of Lashbar played a big role in my development as a stylist and and an artist. They hired me because of my willingness to learn and being open minded. One of the most valuable things that they taught me was to always accept the challenges because it’s the only way to grow. I continue to take different lash courses because the trends are every changing in this lash industry and I need to stay on top of it. I also learned that with the trainers that I have taken courses from always say ”If you are complacent that is scary” that really stuck out to me because being complacent means that I am not growing. I strive to not be a creature of habit, though my work is the same thing everyday I alter things like using different tweezers or taping techniques to keep my brain working at all times.
