We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Cristin Manzanillo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Cristin below.
Cristin, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I would say I get my resilience from my immigrant parents, despite all odds against them they never gave up. My mother worked day in & day out to keeps us well maintained, I would see my dad wake up at 4am to get to work before 5am everyday to build his business. My parents are the definition of resilience & i honestly aspire to be as hard working & inspirational as them.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello Bold Journey readers ! My name is Cristin Manzanillo & I am a 27yr old aspiring business owner from NYC. I come from humble roots having two adoptive immigrant parents. I spend my mornings skating & writing short adult stories. Afternoons are spent working on my small business. I make handmade organic soaps, candles, wax melts. I love making people happy with good handmade products for their homes. I think for me it’s the most exciting watching your own thoughts coming to life & its a very heartwarming feeling. Right now i am working on the new christmas soaps.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Stay consistent even if you aren’t motivated always stay consistent. Be teachable, try to understand there’s always more room for growth & constructive criticism only builds you up. Time management is a very important quality as well, as a business owner is essential for us to manage our time efficiently, kick off in the right direction by minimizing distractions. Create a schedule & set daily clear goals to help prioritize.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Feeling overwhelmed is such a bummer feeling, for me it’s getting out in nature & finding inspiration. I like to work out at the gym, it’s said endorphins are neurotransmitters that can make you feel happy. Practice meditation, connect with close friends & family. Take on a new hobby it’s never too late to learn something new. These blockages are temporary, stay active & remember life is good.
