Meet Cydney Boudreaux

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cydney Boudreaux a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Cydney, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My faith in God gives me resilience. Every step of this journey i feel like i have got knocked down but God has put me back on my feet and blessed me to be in a better situation than what i was in. i have been in some rooms and worked with some people i didn’t even think i would ever be in. My resilience come from my faith all things work out for the good of those that serve him and i just have to keep pushing and doing the work !

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I have been a photographer for almost four years now. I have shot a lot in these short year from graduation, behind the scenes, album covers, brands, and editorial. It all has been fun meeting new people and building clients but i have had the most fun diving into film. I recently shot my first short film and the experience was amazing. I had a fun writing it and sending it out to my friends. I respected every critique they had and suggestion to build on my story. Shooting it was amazing !! The group of actors i had did such a great job bringing my story to life. I’m ready to put it out and work with more people that are doing independent films in houston !

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There aren’t three specific qualities that i can pinpoint i feel like something that important to be able to roll with the punches and think quickly on your feet. Sometimes no matter how much you prepare for. ahsoot things go wrong unexpectedly and you have to have a strong mindset to just be able to problem solve on the spot and keep it moving ! I also think that when collaborating with other people which you will do a lot you have to have a hunger to learn and not be on the defense when someone is trying to teach you. There is so much to learn from your peers and although you should be know who you are as an artist be open to someone showing your their process and how they work

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Go-Giver is the best book i have ever been gifted and i have ever read in my life. Casey York who runs GTSM ( grow something that matter ) gifted it to me about two years ago. That book has changed the way i view business and relationship with people so much and i value the knowledge he has passed throughout our friendship. I recommend the book to everyone and also i recommend every check out GTSM. Not only is the message that he pushes out great but he sells some of the best socks i’ve ever had !
