Meet Daniel Stewart (Young Decent)

We recently connected with Daniel Stewart (Young Decent) and have shared our conversation below.

Daniel Stewart (Young Decent), thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
My creativity is deeply rooted in me. I have found that my mind would be in another place during my time working regular jobs. Creativity is apart of my life and if I can’t do it then its like denying who I am.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a singer/songwriter/producer. Ive been doing music professionally since I was 17. Music kept me off the streets and away from different negative things. I wanted to learn keys so I asked my uncle who is a jazz musician and he said sure I’ll teach you but you have to sit next to me at church. So, that’s where I learned to play keys for 6 years and that’s where I seen my whole life change. I have a project out right now called Reboot(Start Over) on all streaming platforms under the name Young Decent. The music video is available on YouTube. This is a song about having a new season in life and a brand new start. Example: Location ,people, places, things, new attitude. everything brand new. Everyone needs anew start and a chance to Reboot.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Professionalism is very important. How you treat people goes a long way. Someone will give you an opportunity because you are kind with a great easy to get a long with attitude. A bad attitude can keep you out of the rooms you should be in. Though I sing and write songs, I think playing the keys/ an instrument was one of the most impactful things I’ve done in my life. I have better memory and it helped my voice with a reference of pitch. And it did other positive things to my brain that I don’t know how to explain LOL But all I can say is that Im glad it happened. Try new things because you just might like it or even love it.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I love to collaborate, and I’m looking for some like minded go getters that want to build something. Singers, positive rappers, dancers. Now a’days a lot of artist shoot they own videos and market their own self. I fall into that category because I have a bachelors degree in film and I shoot my own videos. My company is called DSYD Creative and I offer services in music, film, and literature. my IG is @youngdecent follow me and say hi! I would love to know what you do:)
