Meet Danisha Brown

We were lucky to catch up with Danisha Brown recently and have shared our conversation below.

Danisha, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I developed my confidence and self-esteem by staying consistent in the business. I have been a licensed agent for over 9 years and when I first started I didn’t know anything. I passed my test still feel confused about what insurance is. During my first few years in insurance, I was connected to two older gentlemen who have been in the industry for over 20 years combined. I gained my confidence by learning from others. My self-esteem grew when I started educating other people on the information I learned. Along with staying current in my industry by learning I also focus on my personal development. I read books, listen to podcasts, and say my affirmations daily. I even have handwritten posts throughout my house to help me stay positive in my entrepreneurial journey.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a focused, driven, and high-spirited entrepreneur who prides myself on lending my expertise to others on their journey to protect their legacy. I have an impeccable ability to provide thoughtful dialogue, reason, and wisdom to my peers and others. My polite demeanor combined with a strong desire to help others has allowed me to thrive in many different environments (retail, non-profit, human resources, insurance) for over 10 years. As an Insurance Agent for the last 9 years, I take pride in knowing that my ability to educate people about their insurance coverage has a truly life-changing impact on my clients.
In October 2022, I launched my own independent insurance agency called Risk Exchange Agency, known as REA. REA offers services in auto, home, commercial, and life insurance, helping clients protect and build their finances. My love for insurance developed over time when I had my own personal experiences that impacted me financially. As a homeowner, I experienced several flooded basements that led to my insurance company dropping me and, subsequently, finding another company that charged higher premiums, increasing my mortgage. Additionally, close loved ones facing illnesses or death required significant financial contributions. I realized the vital role insurance plays when life takes unexpected turns.
At REA, my goal is to change the perspective on insurance. Many people have insurance but may not fully understand its implications until they need to file a claim. For instance, life insurance goes beyond death benefits; it serves as a tool for retirement planning, debt elimination, education funding, mortgage protection, and more. My mission is to help people become proactive about insurance, integrating it seamlessly into their financial planning. I believe that by understanding the depth of insurance, individuals can better protect their financial well-being in the face of life’s uncertainties.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Being a student always. I never stop learning no matter what stage I am in my career. I am always listening to a podcast, reading a book, watching YouTube, reading articles, etc.

2. Stay Connected.
I have developed a network of fellow business owners in the same industry and some are not which helps keep me accountable. Being in the right environment is important for your growth. Also, find a mentor who is going to coach you.

3. Be Positive
Trust this journey is hard so staying in the right mindset is important. I have affirmations everywhere in my house. I listen to my affirmations in the morning and night. Being negative makes your journey harder.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
That’s what I like about insurance because everyone is my client. Everyone has some type of insurance whether its auto, home, commercial, or life.

We value clients who actively participate in their financial planning, recognizing the pivotal role insurance plays in securing their long-term financial future. We appreciate individuals who embrace the opportunity to learn about the multifaceted aspects of insurance, understanding its benefits beyond immediate coverage needs. Those with diverse insurance requirements, spanning auto, home, commercial, and life insurance, seamlessly align with the comprehensive range of services offered by REA. Our ideal clients perceive insurance as a long-term investment and are dedicated to fostering enduring relationships with their insurance providers. They demonstrate a keen awareness of potential risks in various aspects of their lives, be it property, health, or other areas, and actively seek comprehensive coverage. Prioritizing financial responsibility, they recognize that insurance serves as a vital tool in mitigating unforeseen financial challenges. Moreover, our clients appreciate and actively seek professional guidance, acknowledging the invaluable expertise provided by REA. It’s important to note that the ideal client profile may vary based on the specific services and objectives of our agency, and these characteristics are general considerations.
