Hi Daverine , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
If I ever lack motivation any day , I just think about all the people who ever doubted my abilities . The fact that you told me that I can’t do something is enough to push me . I believe in myself and sometimes I surprise my own self . Regardless of what others may say or think about me , I know me. The world is my oyster. Overcoming challenges and obstacles has only made me wiser and stronger . What would life be without nay-sayers?

I am a private chef and artisan by profession. I love culinary arts , travel , family , music, decor and events. I am a strong believer in working for what you want . I am really a homebody woman but I don’t mind doing the things I love outside.I studied Tourism & Hospitality Management at the Excelsior Community College in Jamaica. Myers Gourmet Kitchen LLC is my most recent business venture . The business is my creative expression of love , passion for food , luxury and art. We just celebrated our 1 year anniversary .We cater to events such as housewarmings, bridal showers, birthday parties , church functions, brunch , corporate events & private dinners. The business is my creative expression of love and passion for food , luxury and art.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Creativity , Adaptability and Determination have been the most impactful skills/qualities for me so far. Being open to changes in your environment will help you to navigate your way through much easier in different circumstances. Life may not give you the most favorable options . Be tenacious in whatever your pursue , always seek to improve yourself and your work. Don’t forget to use your imagination and create something new. Creativity brings new life to your mind and your vision . In all that you do have fun and put God First.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
My mom and grandmother did a fabulous job in raising me to become the woman I am today. I wouldn’t trade the values they instilled in me for anything . The older I become the more grateful I feel daily about the home I was raised in .
