Meet David Andras

We were lucky to catch up with David Andras recently and have shared our conversation below.

David, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My journey as an entrepreneur has been paved with financial struggles, market turbulence, failures, criticism, and work-life balance challenges. Each hurdle presented an opportunity for growth and learning, enabling me to cultivate an unyielding spirit in the face of adversity. I now understand that resilience is not about avoiding obstacles but rather about embracing them, drawing valuable lessons, and emerging stronger and more determined on the other side. As I continue to navigate the uncertain waters of business, I carry with me the lessons from these challenges as the foundation of my enduring resilience.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is David Andras. I am a serial entrepreneur, author and coach. I have dedicated my life to helping people become fit and successful. My passion and leadership skills has carried me from some of the most successful fitness and hospitality chains to owing multiple businesses. I currently own and operate 7 businesses in 3 different industries. 3 gyms (The Ohio Gym), 2 coworking centers (Northern Ohio Business Center) and 2 express coffee shops (Arabica Express).
We are currently licensing out both The Ohio Gym and Arabica Express.
If I am not exercising at one of my fitness centers, you will find me working hard at one of my coworking centers or spending time with my amazing family and working on my work/life balance.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As an entrepreneur reflecting on my journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge stand out as the most impactful in shaping my success:

Resilience:
Resilience is the backbone of every entrepreneur’s journey. It is the ability to bounce back from failures, setbacks, and challenges. Building resilience requires developing a growth mindset, embracing failures as learning opportunities, and maintaining a positive outlook even in difficult times. To improve resilience, early-stage entrepreneurs should focus on building a support network of mentors, peers, or a community that can provide encouragement and guidance. Engaging in mindfulness practices, setting realistic goals, and celebrating small victories can also help in nurturing resilience during the challenging early stages.

Adaptability:
In the fast-paced and ever-changing world of business, adaptability is critical. Being able to pivot when necessary, embrace new technologies, and stay ahead of market trends can spell the difference between success and failure. Early-stage entrepreneurs should cultivate a curious and open mindset, seeking out new knowledge and insights from various sources. Regularly attending workshops, conferences, and industry events can provide valuable exposure to the latest trends and innovations. Additionally, conducting market research and gathering customer feedback will allow entrepreneurs to make informed decisions and adapt their strategies accordingly.

Effective Communication:
Effective communication is paramount in every aspect of entrepreneurship. Whether it’s pitching ideas to investors, persuading customers to buy products, or collaborating with team members, clear and concise communication is vital. Early-stage entrepreneurs should invest time in honing their public speaking and presentation skills. Joining speaking clubs or taking communication courses can significantly enhance one’s ability to articulate ideas and engage with stakeholders effectively. Furthermore, active listening is equally crucial; entrepreneurs must be attentive to customer needs and feedback to deliver value-driven solutions.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always open to opportunity and building relationships with genuine individuals. I believe that you have to be around people that have similar visions and people that can help elevate your knowledge, drive, personal and business growth. I would love to expand the brands and encourage individuals to reach out if there is an interest!
