Meet David Moreno

We recently connected with David Moreno and have shared our conversation below.

Hi David, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I honestly just grew up admiring people who were resilient and never gave up so i just have that in my foundation. Don’t get me wrong though, i’ve thought about giving up plenty of times, but i feel like it’s almost a necessity to keep going for me. People believe in me, so i have to keep going and keep believing in myself otherwise i’d lose my purpose.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m an independent artist who makes music and creates art. I think what makes me stand out is that I have a specific sound. My voice sounds almost like a kid and there’s a sense of nostalgia and emotional stumbling across my performance. My lyrics are all personal and vulnerable but also fun and simple. it’s easy to digest. Most of all, it’s just the way I express myself in a raw, honest fashion that ultimately gives me my sound. It’s kinda like giving a shy kid a megaphone to express themselves. I’m always working but this year I’ve got a couple special things coming your way. I have a separate project where I’m making music to help people sleep dropping every month this year, and besides that, Blind Charades is going to be recording and releasing a bunch of music. My next single if I can get to the studio this week is gonna be called “Pleasure In Your Company”, hopefully coming this Valentine’s Day.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
3 things that were impactful on my journey:

1) Talent is not enough. Work ethic outweighs talented laziness.
2) Don’t be afraid to copy, but make it your own, that’s what the greats do.
3) Show your work! especially your process!

These 3 keys were important to my growth as an artist. My only advice would be to remember these 3 rules. Work hard, make art, and get out there. the rest will come on it’s own.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
i chose this question because i think it’s important for anybody to have a strong support system no matter the size. Before i had my friends and team, i had my parents support. From a young age they encouraged me to create and believed in me. I think that was the most impactful thing they did for me. Just believe in me and tell me that I matter. i’m very grateful for that.
