Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to David Reeves. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
David, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from, well… me. If there’s anything I can say about my childhood, it’s the fact that I was not only raised to show everyone the same respect I’m given but also to help whenever possible and be a decent human being and with that I also learned that money, things, etc. don’t make you who you are and life’s too short so live it while you can and enjoy yourself. Self worth and being able to say you’re happy with who you are is most important.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m always working on a lot of things but I make music, it’s as simple as that. I still haven’t figured it out yet but for some reason all of a sudden people started listening and told me it was good. I make, perform and enjoy music to escape the real world. For as long as I can remember it was my only relief for stress. One day I got on stage for the first time and it’s like I got addicted to it. So, I worked harder got more gigs. 5 or so years later, I some how snag a spot in the Dancefestopia 2023 lineup through their Yellow Brick Road tour!! Now I’m tracking billboard status, and all kinds of other stuff that makes it way more like a job than it used to be but I honestly enjoy it just as much if not more. So really I have fun it’s definitely work but I enjoy it more than anything in the world.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Gaining a lifelong obsession with music and learning to play by ear at a young age. Also being a total nerd for science, and having a drive for wanting to learn literally anything i can.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking for people to collaborate with. Simply for the reason being that I firmly believe that the best works of art come from some form of collaboration. So I’d say the ideal partner is just somebody that brings their own strengths to the table!!
