Meet David Williams

We were lucky to catch up with David Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi David, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from my mom, God rest her beautiful soul, I watched her battle many challenges all my life but through it all she did everything she could to ensure we had what we needed. Our dad died when we were young so it was just her and through it all she remained resilient and strong and never gave up

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My wife and I own and operate a Jamaican Restaurant in West Chester Ohio , I am the Chef for our business and we offer truly authentic Jamaican cuisine. For me, the most exciting thing about this is that I am fulfilling my dream of owning a restaurant allowing me to provide people with authenticity with my own creative twists and what’s even better is that I am sharing this dream with my awesome wife and family. Our brand is Jamaican and we are offering authentic Jamaican cuisine with a great Jamaican experience in a beautiful Jamaican themed restaurant. We offer both dining and take out and all our seasoning are Jamaican spices which maintains the flavor our customers love

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Persistence – Have a “never give up” attitude no matter what obstacles you encounter, always keep pushing

Have a teachable spirit – Never believe or think you know it all , every day is a new adventure and a learning experience

Patience and humility – Remain patient and humble nothing happens overnight

My advice to persons on their early journey, don’t be discouraged or fearful as this too shall pass, use every situation as an opportunity to learn and improve

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
A book that has played an important role in my development is – The 48 Laws of Power

Some nuggets of wisdom I found most valuable from this book were:

Never Outshine the Master
Always say less than necessary and
Win through actions not arguments
