Delania , thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
I learned that I’m the only one that I need to worry about. I don’t see others in the room. I’m the only competitor in the room. I’m successful because of God.

We started our business since August 2004. We rename it in 2020. We added more items to our menu. We started off being a catering company call C&D’s Catering. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I learned that’s it okay to failed at a business. It’s okay to take a break for a year or a months. My advice would be to keep God first in your business. Pray this prayer over your business every day.
God, thank you for planting the gift of entrepreneurship in my heart. There are many ideas and directions to choose from, but I would like to submit my plans and allow you to guide me on this journey. Your word says if I acknowledge your kingdom first in all my ways, you will make my path straight (Proverbs 3:6). I ask you to give me the strength and willingness to obey your every directive. In times of anxiety and fear, may your consolation bring me joy (Psalm 94:19). I acknowledge today that I am a child of God. I have the victory over every situation meant to distract, destroy, or deter your plan for my life. I ask that you place me around the right people, people you’ve called to partner with me on this journey, and peaceably separate me from those that cannot be a part of this season. I give you full permission to lead me and ask that you silence every voice that opposes yours. May I constantly use your word to defend myself against all negative thoughts or doubts. I trust you and your plans for my life. Have your way.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
My number one obstacle is my health. It’s very challenging at times. I suffer with iron deficiency and low blood. I have to take slot of treatment and get blood transfusions. My husband has my back with everything I do.
