We recently connected with Denecia Miller and have shared our conversation below.
Denecia, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
First of all I would like to say the negative energy of a “hater/ nay-sayer” will never be a factor accepted in my space. However those who deal with it I would say I learned at a young age no matter how well you are doing someone is going have something negative to say about how you decide to live your life. They are absolutely entitled to that irrelevant opinion nevertheless it doesn’t make that opinion correct. My thought process is if you take time out of your “busy” day to focus on little ole me I must be doing something right to occupy that much space in your mind and mouth. So regardless to what the haters and the naysayers have to say they’re still watching so at a point sit back, eat your popcorn, and enjoy the light show because we just getting started.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello everyone my name is Denecia Miller I am a entrepreneur and creator. I am a licensed cosmetologist in multiple states and have been in the beauty industry for almost 10 years now. In my time in the beauty industry I have been afforded so many beautiful opportunities that have been the catalyst for me to be in this moment in time. I have been blessed to be in a few publications, winning top prizes in beauty competitions, and I’ve had multiple brand partnerships that have showcased my talent in make up artistry. I also will like to announce the opening of my salon suite called D’Luxe Beauty Studio opening sometime this year. Where I will be your one stop shop for D’Luxe beauty services.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would definitely say trust the process, always give your absolute best , and never let your inner saboteur win. To further explain those key points I would say I think oftentimes we see our counterparts ahead of where we think we should be in life and we feel a bit discouraged. You might be staring at their peak not knowing that what God has in store for you can well exceed what you’re currently looking towards. I can’t stress enough the importance on providing your best at all times even when you’re not physically feeling a 100% you never know what opportunity and or person that will change your life from that one moment you’re in. Lastly the best advice I could ever give is never letting your internal saboteur win. Oftentimes times we will pass up on opportunities that could catapult our lives in a position to change it forever because we’re running away from our full potential display your talents, live life as your authentic self, and put yourself out there regardless of your confidence telling you not to.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
There are tons of qualities that would make someone an ideal client for me a client that regularly graces me with their presence to get services, that arrives on time for each appointment, and that refers other clientele to experience my talents. Anyone that decides to patron my business when there is clearly tons of other options that they could have went with is greatly appreciated and loved. To those top-tier clients there that brings you a frappe to their appointments there is a special place in heaven with glistening gold halo for you.
