Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Destiny with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic has always stemmed from a child. My mother always taught me how important it is to work, especially as a woman. Joining the work force at just 16, has also allowed me to learn many great tools progressing now into the present time. It all happened to mold me into this thriving business woman I am today. I believe in “ working hard and not being lazy.” Nothing comes to a person who doesn’t work towards what they desire.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Life of Divine Beauty caters to women from various backgrounds and ethnicities. I have the honor to serve women by providing beauty services. Being able to transform appearances is something I don’t take lightly. I know how important it is to be a woman and feel beautiful as well as look it. Woman are able to sit back, relax and enjoy their service. It’s absolutely amazing that I am able to provide this great space for my clients. My favorite part is the conclusion when my client gets to see the end results. It makes my heart smile to know that they are pleased. Life of Divine Beauty is constantly and consistently evolving with time. Stay on the look out for new things.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back over the years I have disciplined myself to remain teachable, coachable and willing.
Remaining teachable simply means that you don’t believe you know it all.
Remaining coachable means you’re always positioned to receive knowledge from someone else.
Remaining willing means that you’re not afraid to take a risk and test new things out.
Living by these 3 qualities has had a tremendous impact on where I am today. I would recommend every new business owner to take upon these qualities and make them work in some area of their business as well as personal life.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I become overwhelmed I know I need slow down and relax. Functioning as a full time business owner can become overwhelming at times. Whenever I feel as though I’m running empty, I know it’s an indicator that I need to relax and slow down. Many businesses owners have a “ hustle mentality,” which unconsciously allows us to work “ too hard” at times. One thing that I have recently started to implement is writing out a list for the day. This method helps me not to add extra things in that cause me to over-pack my day. I also believe in the power of prayer 100% so taking a moment to pray and breathe always works as well.
