Hi DJ MILK D, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my amazing Mom and the greatest music artist of all time PRINCE. Lets start with my amazing Mother! My Mom raised 2 boys as a single parent with the help of my Grandparents in the beginning before they passed away. Love you MomMom & PopPop. My amazing Mother worked 2 jobs to provide for my brother & I so we didn’t have to go without as much. So many single parents in the world & I salute you ALL but I’m definitely giving “ROSES” to my Mom for everything she did for us! I do want to mentioned my big brother who is 13 years ahead of me as he assisted even when he didn’t want to do so! Love ya big bro! My Mom worked so hard to provide for us and made a great path for my brother & I in the best schools, living conditions, family/friends, teaching us about faith & treating others for who they are and not for what they are on the outside. Present day when I’m Djing I always say: Spread love not hate! We are alive & that’s a blessing no matter what you are going through….you are here! Where do I get that from? Easy, from my Morher so so long ago. The foundation was set and I will always appreciate, respect, & love my Mom always! Thank you Mom for ALL you did and still do for me! You are my bestfriend & always will be! So to close this out I want to emphasize again to you all. Give your love ones their “ROSES” now! Please don’t wait nor take any of them for granted because tomorrow is not promised. YurrrP!!!
PRINCE did it right & when I say that I’m referring to EVERYTHING from Production of his music with countless hours and hours in the studio! Research him and find out the crazy amount of hours he worked and tracks he has out but also haven’t even been released! The Business side of PRINCE equals awesomeness! He learned that the best way was to control his music & not let others basically steal from him. Prince was not just talented he was intelligent. He planted seeds with other artists by helping them grow in the industry. For example, Prince did movies and brought his music friends with him like “Purple Rain” and we all should know that song and hoped you’ve watched the film.
Prince helped me get through highschool. I guess your saying huh? No he didn’t pay my tuition LOL.. because I did goto Catholic School (my Mom paid). Prince helped me cope with the whole light skinned thing and kinda not knowing what I was nationality wise. You see my picture and YurrrP I’m still light skin LOL! Prince being light skin caught my attention but also his music. The music was funky and catchy to where I could easily memorize the lyrics! I’d stand in the mirror or walk down the hallways at school singing his songs! I’m not the best singer but I’m always giving it a GO! LOL! I’m working on a “New Song” & you just might hear me hit a few notes in there soooo stay tuned! YurrrP!!!
Prince gave me the confidence, strength & courage to make it through my teenage years. I never had the chance to meet him but did see him in concert multiple times and in 2021 I visited Paisley Park (his home in Minneapolis) with my Bro Honore’. It was breath taking to be able to walk around his home/studios. I even played ping pong on his table!
Prince was before his time and gone tooooo soon! Thank You PRINCE for all you did in the music industry but thank you for helping me too! As A DJ & House Music Producer I know I have to put the hours in, the work doesn’t stop if you want to succeed and be great at your craft! YurrrP!!!

Hello Hello! My name Is DJ MILK D aka The Party Starter! I live in Richmond Va with my beautiful wife and I’m proud to say I’m A Dad Too! Family means the world to me and there is no day I’m not thankful for them! I love you all so much! I’m also thankful for my inner circle of friends I call family & much love to them too!
I’m the CEO & 1 of the resident Djs at YurrrPRadio.com and a traveling Dj for my Dj company called Bourgeois Entertainment LLC. I’m also a pro Dj for Carnival Cruise Lines so I’m even traveling more but this time on the water! Lastly, I’m a music artist and house music producer with music on all major platforms. I’m a global Dj with over 40 years experience. I give a ton of love to my big brother Derek for teaching me how to Dj when I was just 11 years old! Much love big bro!
I did take a long break from Djing due to the precious word we call LIFE. My passion and love for Djing within me awakened in 2018 & I haven’t taken the foot off the pedal since! YurrrP!!! LOL! I mentioned up above I’m a house music producer. My favorite genre of music is house! I love to DJ it and now I’m producing house music! I’m new at being a producer compared to my DJ experience but I’m having the best time at making my own music! I have 3 songs out on all major platforms that I produced and very proud of all 3 tracks. My 1st song I released Is WALKN’ ON MARS. I released it June 16th 2023 and then October 27th 2023 I had a DOUBLE RELEASE of JUMPIN’ JUPITER & PURPLE DANCE FLOOR. If you notice my titles deal with outer space because house music takes me to outer space! I call it “Purple Outer Space”. Purple to me is the color of LOVE! My plan is to take you all to outer space and spread love to you all! Im currently working on an official music video for Walkn’ On Mars So Stay Tuned! These 3 songs are also on merchandise called the Trilogy. My dream is to be able to DJ house music in front of thousands and thousands of people and of course play my music that I produced too! Dreams do come true! Never loose faith! YurrrP!!!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My 3 Choices Are:
1. Passion & Love For Your Craft. I firmly believe this is important to succeed in this highly competitive field Im in. (DJ/PRODUCER) If you don’t have love or passion why even do it? Also don’t get upset if it doesn’t go the way you want it to go. There must be a hunger for it & this is my opinion of course but also feel like its the foundation of it all.
2. Working hard at your craft. Very important! Yes there are some situations that things come to those super easily or maybe just HANDED to them but for me I’m putting in the work! I work a fulltime job plus DJ at Carnival Cruise Lines as well as being a husband soooo my plate is full you would think? It Is, but I make the time by balancing it all out and if you truly want it bad enough…. you will make time! I have over 35 years of Djing experience but I still work at it! New at House Music Production so I do squeeze more time with that but both crafts I “ADORE” hmmm, PRINCE Song LOL! I also want to mention 2 other “Super Stars” Like Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant (RIP Black Mamba) These 2 NBA Players never took days off nor faulted towards diversity they looked it in the EYE & said BRING IT! Work hard & watch the results goto Outer Space! Hmmm, That’s the whole concept of my “New Music” I have out on all major platforms! Thr name of my future “EP” is called “Purple Outer Space”. 3. Keeping Faith & Believing In Yourself Is the 3rd & final skills and qualities. These are “key for me” & maybe for you too? To grow at your craft you have to believe in yourself!! BELIEVE! BELIEVE IN YOU! How can you promote yourself in a positive way if you don’t believe in you? I have dreams and I’m working towards them but also believing in me in the process! I also have a strong “FAITH” as well! I trust in the work I’m putting into my craft but also “Spiritually” as well. Keeping Faith & Believing makes me strong, confident, courageous to where I’m not afraid of failing but looking any obstacle in the eyes knowing I will survive!!! The music industry is difficult and can be challenging due to the competitiveness of it but also the haters (jealous ones) too but deflect the negativity because you believe in YOU! Positivity Always Wins! YurrrP!!!

Me being a HUGE FAN of House Music I’ve selected my favorites and for those who don’t know each one has a different style! We have Soulful, Deep House, Tech House & Afro House! I’m “DIFFERENT” As A DJ/ Producer But We Are ALL THE SAME Because We LOVE HOUSE!
I truly hope to meet all of them one day but also DJ with them and maybe maybe COLLABORATE with them on a track! I’m getting goosebumps just typing this BUT I’m keeping faith that this will happen! BELIEVE!!! YurrrP!!!
