We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dominik Cartrel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dominik below.
Hi Dominik, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
At a young age my mom instilled in me and my siblings to give when someone else was in need. If we had the means to help anyone, help them.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Im a restaurant owner in the heart of Augusta GA. We serve brunch Wednesday thur Sunday from 9am-5pm. We feed and support the less fortunate of our community. Always accepting donations of any sort to help the community. Currently my next project im taking my Non profit to Atlanta Georgia to try to make a difference. Gods Grits is that organization.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
My management background. Ive been in food service for 16 years and Retail for 18 years. Im a huge people person. PEOPLE PAY PEOPLE! I was told be the mayor of your city coming up. My absolute best advice to anyone who wants a chance in success is to constantly get closer to god. Having a relationship with him is the way to go.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
My parents installed work ethics. My dad worked two jobs. My mom worked two jobs and cleaned houses up for her clients. We struggled when my dad left but my mom didnt miss a beat with us. The determination to never struggle and to be successful and educate ourselves so no one can take that away from us was a huge factor. My parents did the best for us. I respect that. The sacrifice behind it all and me seeing the struggle made me appreciate it more today and I now know my goals are greater than my struggles.
