We recently connected with Dorica and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Dorica with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
For me, the foundation of my work ethic lies in the energy and determination I’ve observed in every hustler I’ve encountered. I was influenced by a lot of different perspectives and passions for excellence. I have a deep respect for the opportunities presented to me.
I believe in the importance of respect and humility in every interaction. When presented with a beneficial opportunity, I approach it with gratitude, recognizing the privilege and responsibility that comes with it. Whether it’s collaborating with individuals, spaces, brands, or corporations, I strive to give my best, knowing that each moment shared is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
I believe that respecting others is a reflection of respecting oneself. I am conscious of the way I show up for myself and others, understanding that integrity and empathy are essential in building meaningful connections and fostering a positive work environment. My work ethic is a manifestation of the values I choose to uphold.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m incredibly passionate about my journey as a music artist. My upcoming album, “Unfortunately, I Love You,” is a labor of love that I’ve poured my heart and soul into. Each song reflects a different aspect of experiences and emotions, and “She’s Got A Habit” is just one example of the raw honesty I strive to bring to my music.
With the release of “Eccentric” as the first single and “She’s Got A Habit” as the second, I’m thrilled to share these pieces of my artistry with the world. My hope is that listeners connect with the authenticity of my lyrics and the emotion behind each melody.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about the possibility of sync licensing opportunities for my music. Whether it’s scoring a scene in a indie film or becoming the theme song for a beloved TV show, I believe my music has the potential to resonate with audiences across different mediums.
Overall, I’m committed to continuing to share my story and my music with as many people as possible. I believe in the power of music to touch hearts and inspire change, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to pursue and teach about my passion every day.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Having great communication skills, authenticity and confidence are three impactful qualities to possess. To develop communication skills, its essential to practice active listening and articulating thoughts clearly and concisely. Be open to learning from others.
Authenticity is key. Stay true to yourself and your values in everything you do. Embrace your unique perspective and experiences, and don’t be afraid to share your genuine voice.
Confidence is a skill that can be cultivated. Set small goals, celebrate successes, and learn from setbacks. Surround yourself with supportive individuals and believe in your abilities to achieve your dreams. Love.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parent did for me was to embody courage, sacrifice, and a deep appreciation for music. My father, who immigrated from Tanzania to America, demonstrated immense courage in pursuit of a better life for our family. His journey, from a different country to a new one, serves as a constant reminder of the power of determination and resilience.
I’m grateful for the values he instilled in me, including a strong work ethic and an unwavering respect for music. Despite the challenges he faced, my father never wavered in his dedication to his craft and creativity. He worked tirelessly to provide for our family while pursuing his passion for music, serving as a role model of perseverance and dedication.
Though he’s no longer with us, his memory continues to inspire me every day. His tragic passing serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and time, but also of the importance of cherishing every moment and pursuing our dreams with unwavering faith and courage.
