We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dorothy Tannahill-Moran. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dorothy below.
Dorothy, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I believe creativity is something you have to look at almost like a problem to solve. You can’t count on an ongoing “epiphany” to occur and you can’t be passive about coming up with new ideas. You have to be curious and be out there looking for things to inspire or prompt your thinking. You also have to look beyond your own specific area of interest at times. It might be a sound you hear, a feeling you get or an image that reminds you of something. Capture that inspiration when it comes and then use it when you need to create something new in your life or business. Be willing to experiment and fail if necessary. You have to keep in mind what the experts say: there are no new ideas, just existing things applied in new ways (or combinations of ways, or with new technologies).
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a Certified Sound Therapist/Healer but there are a few things that set me apart from almost all of them. First, I’m online and Second, I use very targeted frequencies with my singing bowls – which is why I’m online. There’s very few Sound Healers that use what is called “Planetary frequencies”, which means tested and certified singing bowls. Knowing the frequency of a bowl allows me to know what it will do in a person’s body and mind. Even though I do work in-person in the local market’s I’m in I felt it limited my reach so that’s why I went online. All of my recordings and sound bath’s have a “frequency theme” meaning it is focused on a specific affect like pain reduction or sub-conscious reprogramming. My site is a membership site for a very low $11/month price and that gives a person instant access to all recordings and sound baths.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The 3 skills to do this? 1- sound therapy & sound science 2- organizational skills 3- understanding the function of a website. Advice: If you have a website, its like birthing a child, you have to care and feed it everyday or it has no value.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to have a couple of other sound healers to work with. I can’t pay them but I can give them exposure. I think having another sound healer on this site would be awesome.
