Meet Dr. Ashley Nazon

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Ashley Nazon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Ashley , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
We all have moments when we experience imposter syndrome. The way I overcome imposter syndrome is referring to the facts of my success. I have found that when I reference the facts of my life and not rely on my emotional feelings and self-doubt that it helps me overcome the negative thoughts about my career as a therapist.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Dr. Ashley Nazon and I own a private practice and I adjunct teach for a social work graduate program. I am originally from Chicago, but currently reside in Dallas, TX. I have always enjoyed assisting others by helping them find solutions for their life. The most exciting part about my career is seeing clients make progress and achieve success in their lives. I strongly believe in clients living a holistic lifestyle to help them overcome any obstacles in their life. Living a holistic life means to reach homeostasis physically, mentally, and spiritually. I have written a book called ” The Little Black Book of Affirmations for the Black and Brown Girl- A 52 Week Guide For Loving Yourself, Others, and the Life You Live,” to help women live intentionally in all areas of their life. Loving ourselves is the highest form of love.

My practice currently serves Texas, Georgia, and Florida.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
As I look back over my life I can say the qualities have helped me were perseverance, faith, and being optimistic. I have had many obstacles on my career journey, but those qualities allowed me to continue to push forward and help others. The advice I would like to share is to not allow society to put you on a time frame. Your success will come when it is supposed too and not on anyone else’s timeline.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The impactful thing my parents have done for me was not putting limitations on what I could achieve. My parents always encouraged me to strive for any dreams or goals that I had. Having supportive parents has played a huge role in my success.
