Meet Dr. Katheryn Thompson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dr. Katheryn Thompson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Katheryn, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
Katheryn TheHumble is a born giver. It’s built in me. I understand that it is better to give than to receive and when much is given, much is required. The given is a gift(s). It’s not to be selfish but to share with the world. My husband once called me ‘Kurtious Katheryn’. My father’s mother was the most giving individual I’ve ever met in my 40 years. The Harris blood that runs through my mother’s veins made me ‘Passionate for a Cause’.
In high school I stepped into my purpose. My ninth grade year a classmate was killed and a no more violence talent show was how I grieved. A high school step competition at a community center before I graduated ignited passion like I’d never felt. This led to me volunteering with community engagement projects to becoming project manager for different community campaigns and fundraisers. Connecting with community advocates, leaders, and founders of grass-root organizations was a calling on my life. I did it with grace and easily became DrK TheConnectorofPeople.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My legacy will be DrK DaPurposerPusher. I am able to pinpoint the significance of one’s potential, passion, and purpose as it relates to identifying with one’s true self. To know why you were created is power. One great song written was ‘Man In The Mirror’. I am Passionately Persistently Pursuing God’s Planned Purpose for me. Publicly known as DrK Alltheway, the force behind Courcities International, our motto is “We are for a Cause, not just because”. Courcities is a community consulting and promotions company connecting with individuals, businesses, and grass-root organizations to further their visions and purpose. DrK is the plug to your community and Courcities your community one stop shop. Courcities has launched Purpose vs Violence 2023 in Houston, TX with focus on potential, passion, and purpose with young adults, fentanyl, other drugs, gun, and gang violence that occur in the community including suicide prevention. It’s a movement partnered with Michael Bill and Bill Clair Family Mortuary, Reginald OG-1 Gordon, founder of ‘Texas Scared Straight’ prison program, serial entrepreneur, Lex Luga of Hood Idol Radio and Hood Idol TV, Texas Drone Services, and nonprofit organization Houston Shop Inc.
Saxophonist, Ruey Stephens, #RythemicRuey every Wednesday in August will be Courcities’ midweek community recharging station.
The 10th Annual Houston Creole Festival takes place Saturday, September 16th at the historic Emancipation Park in 3rd Ward.
November 4th, The 5th Annual Hood Idol Awards hosted by #LivingLegendLexLuga will be in Hazlehurst, Mississippi.
Friday, November 10th the 2023 Houston Homegrown Invitational Golf Tournament will take place at Hermann Park Golf Course. Veterans are Celebrities. PTSD, mental health, and suicide prevention is the cause to get a hole-in-one.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
One, Life brings direction and a mental stability that gives a place for peace. Peace or rest is an imperative factor because it means less distractions and chaos in life. Two, Relying on my instincts gave me a solid foundation. That discernment caused a phase of isolation. I learned that a butterfly goes through a period of isolation before it becomes something beautiful.
Three, Execute in Excellence is what I repeat to myself as I implement vision and curate imagination. It means under promise, over deliver, stay ready, and not get ready.
There is a lot of knowledge and wisdom in cemeteries because of selfish people.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
The question must first be asked, If you woke up in the morning and could never work another job or earn another dollar, what would you get up to literally go out of your house and do everyday to occupy your time, keep your sanity and be at peace? The answer to this question if not immediately known provokes thought and will eventually lead to seeing purpose in self. The answer to this question allows Courcities to assess and evaluate life’s prerequisites for better client engagement and community promotions.
