Meet Durell Peart

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Durell Peart. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Durell, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

When it comes to how I found my purpose it’s a pretty easy answer. I have always known my purpose to be center around helping others because I like to consider myself someone who has mastered the ability to build relationships that makes a difference, I have made my playground that I love to build relationships and help others is the entertainment industry specifically within the music space. When I think about what it takes to be successful in the music industry it’s really all about building and maintaining relationships that can help open up doors to create success.

I am a music business consultant and I spend most of my hours and days serving what I call the 99%. The 99% is made up of majority independent creatives. I often find that so many of the independent creatives lack the education needed to be successful in a constantly changing music industry. I think after my clients work with me and see that there are industry professionals that genuinely care about them being successful that usually oftentimes gives them the encouragement to keep going and chasing their dreams.

I know that by serving the 99% made up of primarily new indie creatives who often don’t have the financial means to pay me my true value I’ve chosen a significantly harder path in terms of always having consistent income. I view my purpose as service work. I feel very much in my purpose because I feel that without creatives who I’ve often called the “cultural reporters” who often don’t have the opportunity to tell their own stories rely on creatives to be able to do so. Also I believe that without creatives using their gifts that allow for us as non creatives to tap into our emotions we would be living an unbalanced life.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
In terms of what I do and what I’m all about is that I serve indie creatives as an creative manager and music consultant via my company Double N Management & Marketing Group, LLC. The Double N stands for N’Courage & N’Spire because that truly personifies who I am both personally and professionally. For me first and foremost it’s all about making a difference in the lives of others and especially creatives. I often lead with the fact that I share knowledge and information that serves my target audience of indie creatives.

What I feel is special about me is that I genuinely care about spreading positivity in everything that I do. The entertainment/music industry is known for not being a very positive industry and place to want to pursue a career but for me it’s what I absolutely love. I have had to carve out my own path because I was born with a disability called Cerebral Palsy and it hasn’t been easy for me but I can say that I’ve been fortunate to be able to accomplish some really cool things. I have been fortunate to have been to able to visit 7 different countries as well as be featured in 13+ magazines sharing my story and the work I do in helping indie creatives.

I am now the author of my very first book “N’Courage & N’Spire: More Than A Hobby: Why I Chose To Carve Out My Own Unique Path In The Music Industry which was released on March 8th 2023. I always knew I wanted to write books even though I am not an avid book reader. I do know that I have a gift to articulate thoughts and perspectives which isn’t the easiest for most people to do. The inspiration to write the book was to share my experiences and my journey in working to establish a career in the entertainment/music industry as someone living with a special need. Unfortunately there aren’t many opportunities for people like me who have a dream and passion for wanting to be in the industry as a professional because of the limitations that come with living with a special need. I wanted to provide hope and inspiration because so many people in the special needs community often get marginalized and forgotten about and I hope that when people get the opportunity to read my book they will be N’Spired & N’Couraged to keep going in pursuing their dreams and goals.

For those who are interested in reading the book, it is currently available as an Ebook and for those who want a physical copy can certainly reach out to me about purchasing a physical copy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back the three qualities that were most impactful to me on my journey is my ability to a great communicator, relationship builder, and networker. I think that at the core of building success in the entertainment/music industry is that it’s truly about people and relationship building. I feel that I am a master at that and that has played a huge part in me being able to have the experiences along my journey and being able to turn them into successes.

The advice that I have for those who are early in their journey in how they can best develop or improve on these qualities is to surround themselves with people who they think best exude these qualities. When it comes to relationship building and networking opportunities I always share the advice of always making sure to make the focus on how they can be of help to the person that they want to establish something of value with because if they are able to do this it will come back around to them getting what they need. I think about the old saying when you help enough people get to where they need to go you will get to where you want to go. I live with this saying in mind every single day and I feel that it has definitely helped me very much along my journey.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for folks to partner or collaborate with. I am someone who is looking for people who have media platforms that value highlighting new indie creatives in helping to get their music and gift of music out to the world. I love building relationships with radio, podcast, and magazine platforms because I still believe that there is power in people and creatives to be able to share their story because that’s where the opportunity to connect and begin the relationship building process that leads to creatives being able to establish a core audience. I also believe and never take for granted the opportunity to share my own personal story on as many platforms as possible.

I am also looking for other music industry professionals who are interested in looking to help me build and break my clients into different territories across the world. I believe in helping indie creatives establish and expand their global footprint.

If you are in an international territory outside of the US. please feel free to connect with me on Whatsapp +1(407)403-9103
