Dylan, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic is deeply personal and rooted in experiences that transformed challenges into a purpose-driven life. Growing up, I faced bullying in middle school, which, while challenging, propelled me into the world of social media. Starting as a means to find my voice and connect with others who felt isolated, this journey unexpectedly became my mission.
This mission, driven by the desire to make a difference, fueled my commitment to excellence in every endeavor.
It’s not just about putting in 100% effort; it’s about being passionate and genuinely excited about what I do. The creator economy and social media are not just my workspace but a landscape where dreams turn into reality, where I can share unimaginable experiences and uplift those around me.
Every day, I aim to move 1% closer to my goals, inspired by the belief that even one person can ignite change. Hearing someone say I’ve inspired them is not just rewarding; it’s a reminder of why I started this journey. I’m Dylan Huey, a current USC student deeply involved in the creator economy and social media space. Through Reach, the first collegiate influencer organization, I work to empower and educate the next generation of digital creators. Our focus is not just on creating content but on making a meaningful impact in the community. This platform allows us to support creators in their artistic and entrepreneurial journeys while emphasizing the importance of using their influence for good. We’re excited about expanding our reach to more universities, bringing together creative minds from diverse backgrounds. Our goal is to foster a community where innovation, creativity, and social responsibility thrive.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three pivotal qualities have shaped my path: perseverance, creativity, and flexibility. In the ever-evolving creator space, these traits have been my cornerstone, enabling me to navigate and adapt to constant changes. My advice for those at the beginning of their journey is to embrace these qualities wholeheartedly. Understand that success doesn’t happen overnight; it’s a continuous pursuit. Embrace each day as an opportunity to move closer to your goals, always ready to innovate and adapt.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When feeling overwhelmed, I find it crucial to break down tasks into manageable steps. This strategy involves outlining what needs to be accomplished and identifying the specific actions required for each larger task. It’s about focusing on one step at a time, rather than the entire mountain of work ahead. This approach not only clarifies my path forward but also makes the process less daunting. It’s a method I’d recommend to anyone feeling swamped by their responsibilities; it can transform an overwhelming situation into a series of achievable goals.
