Meet Dynasti Smith-Malone

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dynasti Smith-Malone. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dynasti below.

Dynasti , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
To be honest, my work ethic came from a mixture of events, but developed mostly from two things, and that was the feeling of never being good enough, and believing that there was always someone else out working me. Growing up and participating in sports had developed in me a sense of competition and workmanship that has followed me throughout my life. So has people pleasing. Though I am a great sport, I never liked losing. Losing made me feel that there was something wrong with my performance and that I needed to work harder. Constantly being one of the players considered in conversation but never actually being good enough to win the awards did something to my mental health. My need to people please went hand in hand with that. For the longest time I walked around believing that I had to be this perfect, upstanding citizen/student/child/etc to be recognized or receive love. I thought I had to earn my way into goodness. As a result, I would constantly self criticize and overly analyze everything I did making sure it was the best it could be, that it was as right as it could be so there could be nothing negative to say about it.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am the CEO of an entertainment company and a self proclaimed scholar who loves to read and write. The most exciting thing about Left 2B Write is discovering the new and hidden talents around the world. It’s the most fun when I come across a talent or personality who reminds me of why I fell in love with the arts to begin with. Over at Left 2B Write we make sure to highlight talent just because. No other reason matters other than showing love and support to people out following their passion making their dreams come true. Everyone deserves their moment of spotlight and no one human being has the right to dictate when that happens, but we enjoy the opportunity to share in it’s development. We have just held our first couple masterclasses for beginning artists and songwriters and will be making those a regular occurrence within the next few months alongside artist bootcamps and the like.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I would have to say timing, flexibility, and the ability to pivot were the most impactful. The advice I have would be to be prepared as possible. For me this looks like using all of your closet time (the time that you don’t have an audience, or a major following, and most of the time it’s just you, your own mirrors, and your closest circle of people) to perfect the show, but willing to take the first step when the opportunity presents itself even when it’s not the ideal situation you would have hoped for it to be. Choosing to go confidently with what you have and what you know, and being able to take the results and grow progressively from there.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The book that has played the most important role in my development is “Awaken the Giant Within” by Tony Robbins. A few of the most valuable nuggets are realizing that the perfect moment doesn’t happen, its created, knowing the legs of belief whether good or bad dictates how the table (the end result) will be standing, and being okay with reinventing yourself through vision. The fact that your vision changes is evidence of your growth and that you’re actually choosing to live.
