Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Edward Draven. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Edward , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Honestly , it came from faking it till I made it. When I go out there to perform , I have to be a larger than life star. The fans didnt pay to see nervousness and I want them to get their moneys worth so I suck it up and put on a brave face until my anxiety goes away.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a professional wrestler. So my wrestling name is Edward Draven and my moniker is “The Flawless Feature Film” who’s this larger than life star! Which is actually pretty funny because outside of wrestling I’m a completely different person. I think that’s what I love about pro wrestling, you get to be so out there and transforming into a completely different person! I also love the physicality and I feel like no other sport can prepare you for this, its equal and that’s whats beautiful about it.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I love that question. The first one would definitely be my background in acting definitely helped me be spontaneous and daring with my choices. Pro wrestling is actually very improv heavy and I feel like you always have to be quick on your toes just in case something doesnt go as planned.
The second one would definitely be my everlasting goal to be different. I always look around to see whats popular or whats common just so that I can take a different route. I like to be incomparable and different with my gear, moves, taunts just to stand out.
The third would be my love for the WWE Divas. I loved them growing up and seeing them do their cool moves and unique characters always fascinated me. It also helped me come up with my own character and add my little spice on some of their moves, alot of guys dont do those moves so it definitely helps me stand out!! I also feel like the uniqueness of every diva was what made it so special, I feel like characters and different personalities is something that has always drawn me. So I try to add some of that in there
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
AR Fox definitely shaped me into who I am today. Just experiencing his leadership was an amazing experience. He’s so knowledgeable so it was so valuable to get to hear his thoughts. I’m forever grateful to him.
Zamir Zuriel and Rico Gonzalez also is someone who really helps me whether its wrestling feedback or just personal things. I can always count on them.
Since last August I’ve had the absolute pleasure of training at Platinum Championship Wrestling. It has been such a transformative experience. I’ve grown so much in the ring and as a character under their mentorship! They have such an amazing group of trainees who are going to trailblaze the future of professional wrestling.
