Meet EDWRDS

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful EDWRDS. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with EDWRDS below.

EDWRDS, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I think the beauty of a purpose is it’s constantly growing and morphing into something new and personalized for you. In the beginning of my life as an artist, i’d say the want to make the music that I witnessed bring people together fueled me. I honestly look back in awe of how many different tunes I was creating back then. As i grew up and experienced life as we all do, I experienced the highest of the highs and lowest of lows.
That character development allowed me to grow super self aware! We all have those moments as artists where we want to be remembered as the best to ever do it… The awakening I had however was as long as i’m striving to be authentically me and allowing the music to assist me in my trials; i’ve won.
All in all i guess in this moment i’d describe my purpose as being an example. Not the blueprint of perfection, but an example for anyone willing to risk it all and look inward. We all deserve the chance to seek discomfort and form a better relationship with the spirit.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve honestly been feeling very excited about what’s to come. The hard work is slowly but surely paying off. I’ve got tour coming up in April so i’m pumped to see familiar faces and new ones in different cities.
Traveling for shows has been a huge part of my life. Some of the worst and best times of my existence has happened on the road. Adventuring out into the unknown can feel daunting but I feel as if it’s a new season, a new chapter of my life opening, The new music captures many of the life lessons, heartbreaks, discoveries, and growth i’m talking about. Just trust me. Ancora Imparo!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
One quality that has played a huge role in my life would be extreme belief in one self. There was never a time I didn’t see me doing what fulfilled me. While I was growing up my family was super supportive of all my wild ideas. I’d say stuff like, “I can be the next JT” and Mum would say “Go for it!”
The important thing I had to remember no matter what was if i’m to put my energy into doing something.
I better do it the best I possibly could. Thanks to a fearless mindset, whether I succeeded or failed, I knew I could do anything I put my mind to. I know not everyone hd that same blessing but we all are capable of self belief.
It anchors down into not caring how others may perceive you. With any choice you make; people will love it or hate it. Nothing is forever so believe in your gut, trust your intuition. All that matters is you are your own super hero.

Another skill that has impacted my life is balance. Balance of work and life, good and evil, even if pain and joy.
Having a balance has allowed me to not fall too deeply into the left or right. It’s easy to get exhausted when we put all our energy into one thing. Bringing contrast will open your eyes to the meaning of it all.

Lastly but not least, being able to adapt has helped me tremendously. I had to learn how to keep my cool when things go south. There’s a lot of disappointment in the entertainment world so knowing no matter what you can figure things out is important. You’d be surprised how many good things can blossom in a moment of seeking discomfort. No matter what you do, have an open mind.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When i’m overwhelmed I like to do a few different things. One strategy that has helped would be grounding. I’ll go outside barefoot and make contact with the earths natural charge. It has tons of benefits like reducing stress levels and better circulation. Another thing I like to do is meditate. Focusing on my breathing washes away all the cluttered thoughts usually overwhelming me. I really can see the world differently after a good meditation! Lastly if I have the free time i’ll journal and write lyrics, thoughts, and affirmations.
