We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Elaine Riley a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Elaine, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Finding my purpose came from a very unexpected place. If you would have asked me 5 years ago what my future was going to look like, this is not it. I’ve always been into metaphysical practices but did not think of it as a business avenue until after I started my Reiki training and working with a business coach. I had been working with her for my soap and skincare business. That just happened to be the same time that I was taking Reiki and Astrology training for my own personal use. She saw how much it lit me up and encouraged me to keep exploring it. After I started reading Birth Charts and interpreting my own, I realized that maybe this is what I truly should be doing with my life. Fast forward 2 years and I have transitioned out of the soap and skincare space and now I am focused on helping people align their energy through practices like Reiki, Astrology and Crystal Healing. While I loved the other part of the business and it was a very hard decision to transition the business. The spiritual avenue fills me on a soul deep level that I didn’t even know I needed.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki Master practitioner and teacher as well as a certified Astrologer and crystal healer. Through my business, Clary Hollow, I help people to align and heal their energy through the use of these practices. I perform both distance and in person Reiki, crystal healing and Astrology sessions in Leland, NC. I also have a website that I sell a variety of crystals and other metaphysical items on. I offer those in person as well at Seaglass Monthly Market in Castle Hayne, NC. One of my favorite offerings is my Grounded Spirit Program where I offer weekly, one on one energy and astrology guidance catered to what you need and what you are going through in your life. I love helping clients learn how to work with their own energy and grow through the program each week.
My newest offering is a Life Purpose/Direction Astrology reading where we discuss what your destiny and superpower energies are based on your Birth Chart.
My most popular product though is probably my monthly Crystal Boxes. Each month I look at the astrology for the month. I then choose a crystal that I think could help everyone make the most of that month’s energy. It comes with a write up on why the crystal was chosen, how to use it and some fun other things too.
My business at its core is really just about spreading good energy, while educating and helping others on how to do the same.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three things that I think really helped me along my journey are a supportive business community, eagerness to learn, and an open mind. I was blessed to find a market right away that was full of like minded business owners that were very helpful and supportive to a beginner. I became close with quite a few of those fellow business owners and still call on them today to talk business and bounce ideas off of them. I think when you’re a small business owner there is a constant need to grow and adapt. That’s where the eagerness to learn and the open mind comes in. You have to be flexible and ready to pivot if challenges arise. The pandemic is a perfect example of that. Things can change so fast and as a business owner, you have to be ready to grow and shift as needed. My advice for any new business owner is to take your time, have a plan but be flexible to changing your plan, and find some fellow business mentors or a coach to help you out. Most things are learned the hard way in business and if you can find someone willing to share some sage advice, take the time to be open minded and listen.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I love to collaborate with others and am always open to new opportunities to do so. I’ve done a few online interviews, social media lives with other business owners, various markets and events and am currently looking to branch out into podcasts or even TV segments. I would love to be a guest on anything that deals with energy work or astrology. I love talking about new age ways to use these things and bring more awareness to how Reiki and astrology can be used to help people day to day.
