Meet Elyse Welles

We were lucky to catch up with Elyse Welles recently and have shared our conversation below.

Elyse , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence and self-esteem really comes from my deep convictions and knowledge of self. And I wouldn’t have either of those things without my spiritual path. Even before I had a name for spirits, I was connecting with the land as a child. I have always been somebody comfortable with solitude. That isn’t to say I like to be alone, but when I have the chance to be alone with my thoughts, I try to never run from it. I’ve learned that if there is something that makes me want to run from it, it’s usually a sign that I need to really spend time with myself to learn something new and grow.

As I grew older, I began more intentionally connecting with spirits, and doing energy work; by that, I mean studying witchcraft and engaging in spirit communication. I began as a solitary practitioner doing ghost investigations and tarot readings, and now I’ve been a professional tarot reader for 12 years and a spiritual mentor and teacher for three years. I now have a masters degree in witchcraft and am an initiated High Priestess of the eclectic Faery Tradition. I have worked hard to build tools and resources, such as self-paced courses, live workshops, and through one on one mentorship, to help others gain the confidence and self-love that I have found through witchcraft. I also now live in Greece, where I can bring people to the sacred sites through private tours and retreats to connect to land and spirit more deeply through the mythological, legendary landscape of Greece.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a priestess and teacher of witchcraft, specifically working with land spirits, nature and her cycles, and helping people connect to sacred places. I am the cohost and producer of the Magick Kitchen Podcast. I host monthly workshops in addition to teaching at summits and conferences, and I have an online community space for Magical Living where I share rituals for full and new moons as well as Wheel of the Year holidays, weekly shadow work journal prompts, exclusive meditations and even bonus episodes of the Magick Kitchen Podcast. I am an initiated priestess in the eclectic Faery Tradition and hold a masters in witchcraft so I do the best I can to connect folks with land spirits, and find greater calm and confidence in their lives through nature. Signing up for my newsletter at seekingnumina.com and my community at patreon.com/elysewelles is the best way to get access to new courses and earlybird pricing.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The best advice I ever got, was to follow your own path, and to only take advice from people who you would trade places with. If somebody has opinions on your life, unless they are somebody who you admire, their opinion is meaningless. It sounds harsh, but it’s true! When we can learn to lean on our own strengths and interests and feel validated in that, we are on the path to success. If you are new to your path as a witch, I recommend pursuing intuition as your guide. Follow what makes your heart sing, and the path will take you where you need to go. I also think the best first magical skill to master is energy protection. I offer a free guide to energy protection when people sign up for my newsletter on seekingnumina.com.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for more witches, shamans, priestesses, and other magical beings to collaborate with. I am a writer and teacher first, and I also love to travel and learn about new things. If you’re looking to grow your spiritual path, I would love to hear from you. And if you are a teacher of the craft, I would love to collaborate. I love going on other podcasts and Instagram lives to have conversations about Magic, nature, and the way the spiritual is everywhere.
